The property is decoration is looking tired but it is so busy I don’t see how they can get time to redecorate!
After two weeks of traveling around Scotland, we chose this location primarily for its close proximity to the airport, as we had an early flight, and were pleased to find such a great place. The hotel is not new but has been well maintained, and has character you don't find in more modern places. The room was spotless, and the bed comfortable. We would particularly like to thank the maintenance man for his quick and pleasant help fixing a problem with our TV. The desk clerk was also competent and friendly.
If a microwave and/or a minifridge could be offered in at least some rooms it might be nice, but a key attraction is the low price, so don't do anything to change that!

Hotel is a bit tired and that’s okay. The odd bit falling off never bother me. Large family rooms.
However I have never been treated so badly in any hotel.
Thought I had booked two nights in the family room but I had mistakenly booked only one. Staff did not contact us during the day to say our stuff was still in the room. We returned in the evening and all that was missing from the receptionist was a headscarf and rolling pin.
She was so out of order. Her lecturing tone was a disgrace and obviously something that she does really well. We were told that we were lucky they actually had a room for us. I told her that she could have just contacted us during the day to sort it out. However she continued to lecture myself and my two grown up daughters. Then she said quite nastily. “You didn’t pay for last night and you will now have to pay for tonight” I advised her that paying was not an issue as I had already thought I had booked 2 nights.
Reception insisted that I had not booked the room direct but that I had used Expedia. I did not use Expedia. My confirmation email came from the ABBOTSFORD.
I asked her to refrain from speaking to me like I was a child. As a 65 year old I do not take kindly to being spoken too like that. She however continued on the same vein.
In my room I decided to write an email to the manager. He then came to the door. He enforced the fact that by rights they could have packed up our stuff. I said why didn’t you? I would rather stay elsewhere than be spoken too to like a naughty child.
He apologised and saidd he would be having words with her.
Tried to have a shower but there was no hot water. Whether it was turned off or not who can say.
Owner returned to say that I had definitely used Expedia. Which I have never used. So obviously he wasn’t really apologetic. He did however turn the hot water back on when we asked him too.
Don’t stay here. I definitely wont be. There is no apology like no apology
