Boring food, inflated prices and VERY rude staff behaviour.
Pros:

Went to this on my birthday as it is on the beach and it appeared busy but, upon being seated, most other diners were eating pizza out of boxes - they were closing and hadn't given any plates out!We ordered our food and it came VERY fast and then they stood over us with the bill until we paid and then, whilst we were eating, they cleared all other tables away and turned the lights off... I can't recommend this restaurant at all especially as, despite being VERY boring food, the bill was the second most expensive of the trip.
Avoid at all costs!

Staff don’t know what they are doing
Pros:

Not professional as it seems. Staff are friendly and nice but they don’t know what they are doing.

They had us wait for our room for 3 hours while checking new comers in before us. Arrived at 11 am didn’t get room until 2 pm. Worst is seeing them checking other people in and keep telling you to wait

Very good and great value
Pros:

A very good location to the beach! All the local restaurants and amenities were close by. Also the room was great value and very clean. The room had the basic requirements you need with air conditioning! A great choice for anyone coming to koh samed.

Slow Service, Good Soup
Pros:

Saikaew Villa has a restaurant facing Sai Kaew Beach, with deck chairs lined up on the silver sand beach. It is an ideal location, but falls short on several measures.

The worst is the service. You literally have to get up and walk around until you find a waiter. Then you realize why they are not looking out for you and attending to their customers. They are too busy on their i.phones playing games and competing with each other. They almost seem to resent having to close the game to come and give you a menu.

The only redeeming thing I can say, is that when my lunch came, it was excellent. I had ordered a Thai fish soup in coconut milk, and a side bowl of steamed rice.

The soup was exactly what I felt like. It had chopped galangal and lemon grass, red onion slices, chili, slices of fresh coconut meat, garlic and other spices, all with generous slices of boneless fish filets. The soup had been cooked quickly, so the vegetable ingredients were still crisp and with their own individual flavours, but had also melded to provide a lovely balanced mild Thai soup.

I would give this establishment two stars, but have added another because I really did enjoy the soup.

Bad restaurant!
Pros:

Do not use the restaurant! The food has no taste and we did not get the desserts we ordered but some of the cheeper ones from the meny card but we still had to pay full price. Only good thing is the location on the beach.

Horrible
Pros:

The service is horrible, you will spend toooooo much time waiting and waiting, even when the restaurant has no clients but is full of waiters. Never go there.
The price does not help at all, expensive, and really poor service.

Beach Fronting Hotel and Restaurant
Pros:

Saikaew Villa is on Sai Kaew Beach (Silver Sand Beach) which is the largest and most popular beach on Koh Samet.

The hotel sits back from the beach and is fronted by a restaurant, in front of which are deck chairs on the beach.

It is centrally located on Sai Kaew Beach, so is a great place to relax, enjoy a cool drink, and order lunch or dinner when the clock rolls around.

Most of the waiters are Cambodian, but speak passable English, which is sometimes better than their Thai. But one way or another, the message gets through and orders and sent back to the kitchen by I-Pad, them quickly picked up and delivered by the waiters.

Helt gräsligt hotell
Pros:

Smutsigt, söndriga och smutsiga sängkläder, stank avlopp i hela rummet, endast myggnäts fönster. Det enda positiva va att det va nära stranden.

Ok karaoke
Pros:

The food in the resteraunt was pretty basic thai food, when we walked into the resteraunt which is perfectly placed at the beach we immediately heard the karoake and we were not impressed. We even were thinking to go somewhere else, after the food we had some fun with the karaoke; requesting a lot of songs and clapping our hands blue. It eventually made my evening, Thank you so much for the great experience!

sleep on the street and save your money
Pros:

When you book a deluxe room 2 months in advance you kinda think you would get one. 26€ a night what I got was a fan room without a fridge or tv. Room was dirty and even the curtains were on the floor with the curtain rod. When you contact the manager he says all good rooms are taken by the Chinese guests. So check your passport/nationality before you book a room here. Behind my room there was a large canal that apparently moves all the doodoo from the hotel complex to the sea. Only positive aspect was that the beach is 30m from the hotel front desk. You can get a nice clean room from upper floors with tv, fan and a fridge for 12€ on the island. I suggest you look around before you set foot in this place. Wifi works near the front desk and not in your room

Basic, Dirty, Construction site...
Pros:

About the only good thing about this place is the proximity to the beach, not a smile or a welcome from any staff member on arrival or throughout our stay, our room was not that old but they had used all secong hand materials including the bed, (shower was hanging off the wall, toilet would not stop running, power point cover broken) we also paid for the "breakfast included" on Agoda website due to the construction going on they do not have an operating kitchen so a voucher to the value of 100 baht is given and you are directed next door where a set breakfast is 120 not much money but the extra you pay for breakfast on the website is far more than this. I just think it would be good if someone contacted you and told you that there is construction going on in the hotel place is a mess...

A place to sleep.
Pros:

Good points: Close to the beach. Many rooms to choose from. Breakfast included. 3 entrance/exit points for easy access to beach &/or main street.

Points of improvement: Room quality consistency. Water supply is better in some rooms than others. Different cable TV in the 2 rooms we had. Audio on the service provider would mute.

It's one of the bigger hotels on Saikaew beach but where our room was located we had to walk 100 meters to get to the beach.

The place was undergoing renovations & there was no effort to hide it with debris laying around. Take care when you have young kids.

We were there for 2 nights over New Year's Eve. Fire works were still blasting at 5 AM. Also despite the hotel rules to observe silence 10 PM the guests above our room were quite noisy until 2 AM.

If you can sleep through the noise from the nearby clubs & neighbors it's a good place to stay.

It literally stinks!
Pros:

We got "deluxe room" it was the oldest part of the hotel. Room was dark, dirty and stank really badly. Hotel manager just raised his hands and gave explanation that there is a stinky river behind our window. If you are European, you will be put in to these horrid rooms. Girl from reception told us that the good rooms are given to the Chinese. Never again!

Very basic & very poor standards of rooms, unfriendly staff.
Pros:

We paid quite high price for three nights stay for three people. The room we were shown by the travel agents was definitely not the room we were given! It was supposed to be one double bed and a sofa bed in the room. On arrival the staff in reception were unwelcoming and abrupt, our room was dirty and smelly and consisted of only two single beds and two shabby garden chairs, the shower was cold and just a small trickle of water. We went back to reception to enquire about the third bed and was only faced with blank stares and a lot of hassle to explain our request. We went off for food while we waited for the third bed, there was no staff around so went to a neighbouring restaurant. On our return we found that the mattress from one of the single beds had been placed on the floor and a sheet placed over the wooden hard base of the bed with pillows and a small blanket. Disgusted that one of us was expected to sleep on this we promptly returned to the travel agents in the town and demanded our money back. After wandering down the beach we found a resort nearby of much higher standards of room, facilities and fantastic staff through out hotel, restaurant and bar, for a fraction of the price! We even got four nights in the new resort for significantly less than the amount we were expected to pay for three nights at Saikaew Villa. I would never go back to Saikaew Villa and was disgusted at the standards of the place and service we received.

close to beach
Pros:

We were at co samet on 16 April 2014. we stayed a few nights at this villa. the hotel is about £30 per night, air-con, breakfast is extra. Overall stay was okay, the beach was fantastic!! Be aware plenty of mosquitoes in room, n I found a black bug in the middle of the night which was just like a scene from Indiana Jones! I used a piece of thick paper and tried to stamp on it full weight with my feet. Then ,thinking it was dead, I scoop it into a food tray and put it under the table so my other half could see it next day. The front door don't look secure, had a big gap at the bottom of the door, bug must have crawled in. He saw it in the morning and it had crawled out of the food tray! He threw it out in the grass! Ladies, beware!! Check front doors before booking.

I love the location
Pros:

Sai kaew villa is pretty basic Thai resort with simple furniture. I have stayed there many times and I know some other reviews say negative thing about this place. To be honest. I don't spend much time in the room anyway. The room is clean and bed is absolutely firm but my liking:) I had breakfast there a couple times. It is overpriced but you are on the island. If you looking to get a bit cheaper just walk outside and you probably can get it $.50 cheaper. The beach is pretty decent, not great. The reason i like this hotel is closed to bar , 7-11, internet cafe, I would go back and stay there again. For the price i paid it worth it :)

Just ok
Pros:

We stayed there for 3 nights. And not really nice. Staffs are not friendly at all. The room is dirty! So next time I wouldn't stay there next time. We got a big hole at the door. The receptionist had put us on the second floor and there's no one there! While the room downstair is still available. No wifi

Overpriced
Pros:

Koh Samet is generally an overpriced destination due to its popularity with Thais and tourists and its proximity to Bangkok, so I can't say I am very surprised at the price of this hotel. We paid 700b a night for a fan room. The room was old and dirty and was not secured well. The door or window could have easily been broken into. A room like this should be half the price. The one positive aspect of this hotel is that it is close to the beach. I would not stay here again.

Oh dear!!
Pros:

I had previously read the reports on trip advisor so i wanst expecting much. The man on the desk was ok really so i was hopeful. When i got into the mosquito infested room with windows and doors that didnt shut i was slightly alarmed, but hey its thailand and cheap so i thought just get on with it. The vinyl was curled on the floor and bugs crawling in the dirt around it! But the sheets were clean and towels fresh. The bathroom another matter i thought quite funny , you have to sit on the toilet sideways as thereis nowhere to put your legs! I soent most o fmy first night in fear as there were dogs on the balcony trying to get into the rooms our door only needed a push and it was open. The next night i spent in a lovely relaxing villa down the beach more expensive but it really does depend on what you require. I didnt complain or demand my moneyback as i had read on trip advisor before its not worth the argument. I just handed the keys back in on the days i was suposed to check out. Oh bu i kept the breakfast voucher breakfast was ok! If you want cheap then Saikaew is at £12 per night. And it is right on the beach. But i wouldnt go again it was an experience.
