The beach
I didn’t like my room , the toilet was not up to standard. It was a disabled access. The seat in shower was tarnished, black . The bottom of shower curtain was dirty with mould. The mirrors were not clean . I did complain. The dinner service was chaotic, only person on plate service was 1 guy, he was so busy delivering food . I know restaurant service and looked to me like skeleton staffing . Breakfast was so much better, lady in charge was in full control.
The Spa is gorgeous.
The views sublime and running from sauna into the sea was such a thrill.
Room lovely too.
Our evening meal was nothing special.
We asked for a nice wine on list and the waitress took about 3 attempts and still didn't get it so we had to go to bar ourselves and get house red.
Our main course was nearly finished by then.
Also she wasn't bothered in the least or in any way apologetic.
Poor service
Nice hotel in a beautiful location on the waterfront
The evening meal was mediocre, and overpriced
Location
Couldn’t supply the gluten free from advertised menu - did manage to make an alternative however.
No dedicated gluten free cooked breakfast.
(Bright red dog-poo bin the focus of the view from the dining room window - rather spoiled the dining view/experience)
Everything!!!!
Nothing
The room Was beautiful we had a sea view .
The spa was lovely also
Staff weren’t as attentive as you would expect - dinner arrived before the drinks - this could be learning of new staff ?
Loved the location and the views. They were very welcoming with the dog once we got there. Food was good in the evening as was the breakfast.
It's not immediately clear which rooms are dog friendly and which aren't, leading to me being downgraded from the room I originally booked. The restaurant is huge with lots of different areas but dogs are hemmed in to this small area with only 3/4 tables available which isn't the best idea to have lots of dogs in small quarters. It was quite difficult to book a meal in advance, which was recommended. The website isn't intuitive and when booking a table there's no function to select dog friendly area, I had to go through email which is actually an automated system. When I got in touch with the restaurant there was a long back and forth before I could get the dog added on.
The hotel is beautifully situated right on the beach front. The facilities and grounds are lovely and very well maintained. We enjoyed the spa experience as well as the relaxing surroundings. Evening meal was great, good selection and well presented - very tasty. Staff all helpful and cheerful. There are lots of parking spaces in front of the hotel including disabled bays and a ramped entrance if required. The hotel is a bit of a maze with lifts and corridors to reach further away bedrooms but once you get the hang of the layout it only takes minutes. Our room had a lovely patio area with a table and two chairs - accessed through the French windows. Spacious bedroom, lots of wardrobe and storage space as well as tasteful decor. Also very spacious bathroom.
Robes and towels are provided for guests going to the spa. Just take your own flip flops!.
It would have been good to have had some water in the room. The 2 bottles purchased from the bar were £3.75 each - 330 ml glass Harrogate water. In a Scottish hotel it would have been good to have had a choice of Scottish water, Highland Spring for example.
Breakfast was standard with a reasonable choice of hot foods and all self service aside from hot drinks. (Nice fruits, pastries and cereals etc if desired.) The breakfast menu advertised is presumably for non residents after 10.00 am which we didn't know. We'd looked forward to eggs benedict and were a wee bit disappointed. Miissing from the hot plate area were napkins to hold plates while choosing food. It was great that the plates were hot but, without a napkin, it was difficult to hold until they had cooled a bit. On reflection, we could have taken our napkins from the table but without knowing the set up we didn't do that. None of the above observations have taken away from our enjoyable stay and we have booked for another overnight later in the year.
Friendly staff, spacious rooms, great food.
Room was very hot.
Very clean friendly staff and great spa
Disappointed in the quality of food
Love everything the spa was brilliant and staff were friendly and the massage was great.
I enjoyed everything apart from my dining experience at night was awful from start to finish. Took ten minutes or so before we got asked for drinks and when we did we were ready to order food as well. As for finishing my starter the server took almost twenty minutes to take my starter plate away it was as if they wasn't clearing plates and avoided the altogether. Food was nice my steak was over cooked but in general the food was fine and enjoyed. That was the last same as last time as well everything is brilliant apart from night time service, there is plenty of staff on as well so don't get the delay in service and the system went down 3 times had to.wait till it came back on for my bill.
Location, good size bedroom, very clean. Welcoming and helpful reception staff. Food was very good.
Having to give up waiting to be served in the restaurant (outside) having waited 25 mins and asked two members of staff to take an order. Went back inside, explained the situation and was given a table inside and excellent service thereafter.
The spa was amazing , the food aswell
I think would be good to get the spa for longer if it’s quieter
