Location location location. Less than 5 min drive from sea terminal. Disabled parking bays almost outside of hotel and ample parking spaces facing hotel on promenade. Disabled access entrance too. Promenade is easy and flat to walk to the electric railway which takes you to some lovely tourist parts of the island. Loved the piano player at night, lovely to relax with some beautiful tunes. Breakfast has absolutely everything you could want and if you wanted boiled eggs, fish, porridge, poached eggs they would make them fresh for you, very accommodating. The staff are all very helpful, polite and charming.
No air con in the rooms, the lift takes an age to arrive and if coach parties arrive with luggage it blocks the whole hotel reception to get to the lift. Which is not ideal.no rooms for three people looks onto the front promenade which was disappointing.
On arrival we were allocated room 611 which was as booked( sea view with walk in shower)The room was prepared well and the bathroom was modern and very clean. But there was no wardrobe ! I.e. nowhere for ladies to hand long dresses.* Note for hotel....... just take out the middle shelf of the cubby hole offered as a wardrobe. There were plenty of drawers and other shelves for storage.Without much fuss we were moved to another room which was satisfactory but without a walk in shower.
We ate in the hotel every night and the food was very good especially from the restaurant menu which you can eat in the bar area.In the bar area we were entertained most nights by a very talented professional pianist who played light easy listening tunes from all ears and happy to oblige all requests.Strangely we were not allowed to buy a drink for the pianist to show our appreciation. An odd rule since most musicians would say they enjoy some refreshment and appreciate a pint to relax and help them play better.Hope the hotel change that rule should we visit again.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and it would be our choice of where to stay in Douglas should we decide to visit the island again.

Yet another brilliant stay at the Empress Hotel. Super view from our bedroom and the conservatory
Room was clean, always clean towels when asked for plus a note put for extra milk every day and it was there.
Breakfast nice and hot and the bar food was excellent- particularly the Empress Shared Platter.
Booked again for the 2027 Southern 100 as cant fault the place.
Must mention Alfie in the Piano Bar. He was excellent.
Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und die Lage des Hotels an der Promenade ist perfekt.
