Poor evening meal menu
Beautiful room, I bought this as an early Xmas present for my parents who loved the building, the history and location. The staff were brilliant and breakfast very good. Highly recommend
Dinner was amazing and breakfast was excellent.
Very old original building from an age gone by and the staff were excellent.
Amazing historic property.
Another lovely stay in this historic hotel. Great service and good food.
Have been to the mermaid a few times , always lovely, staff are always friendly and polite.
Fabulous location. Helpful staff. Very historic. Took dog who was allowed in room and terrace only. The lounges were empty and it would have been nice to access those. Breakfast was nice too.
Wonderful historic Inn in the heart of Rye. Breakfast was top notch and the Inn was splendid. Would stay again. We also enjoyed the bar, the lounges and all the history.
Lovely old hotel
A beautiful hotel full of character. Amazing staff and wonderful food. Highly recommend for a stay in charming Rye.
Not the cheapest joint in town, but offering a memorable event with good service and hospitality thrown in for good measure.
This and more set in the most quaint of all cobbled streets in a super little Sussex town.
Absolutely love staying here, the staff were great and very helpful. Would have liked a walk in shower but understand that this is not possible due to the age of property.
The Mermaid Inn is a special place. So much history around every corner. It's a really gorgeous setting, with period detail throughout. Staff were friendly and helpful, and rapidly corrected an error made during check-out. Breakfast was delicious and you can tell they use high quality ingredients in everything. I was slightly disappointed in the room: it was pretty stifling despite the weather being merely warm; the four poster bed was much smaller than a modern double and had a cobweb hanging from one corner; and the weird red polyester throws/curtains and cushions with plastic crystals jarred with the intricate carvings and beans around us. But all in all a good experience and we enjoyed our stay.
We loved our stay in this unique place. The staff was warm and welcoming and very accommodating and the surrounding area was gorgeous to wander. Given the age of the Inn, the facilities are excellent, although an upgrade in the bathroom, especially the shower, would be nice. Overall though, I highly recommend this wonderful, historic, and charming place!
Check in was chaos with our room not ready and different excuses being made. You will be allocated an inferior room with fake beams and tatty modern furniture in an annexe if you don’t specify the exact room you want ( but be charged the same price ) Parking is very tight , we were glad we took our older car. Our bathroom was little more than a broom cupboard with a pokey cubicle and no water pressure. Any ghostly activities are more likely to be other people snoring , plumbing issues or the battery dying in your smoke detector. Food here is pretty awful , very limited choice for breakfast . Bar meals only in the evening due to lack of staff. No nice finishing touches or attention to detail we get in similar priced hotels elsewhere. It’s a beautiful old hotel let down by poor management relying on the character of the place to fill it .
Interesting very old building with a lot of character. The desk staff seemed irritated and inconvenienced to be welcoming guests, but the gentleman who showed us to our room was very friendly and joyful.
