The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful and calming. Common areas clean.
Our room had some cleaning issues that were immediately visible. Dirty floors, pieces of lint around room floor, hair dust bunny. Used looking toilet. The pebble tile floor in bathroom was filthy.
Called front desk, housekeeping arrived right away. Vacuumed whilevwe were there, cleaned toilet. Returned late in evening and noticed the beautiful pebble tile bathroom floor was disgustingly Dirty, especially around toilet base. We left towels on floor to avoid walking on the dirt. For a new hotel, the hairdryer was gross from people handling.
The view from our room was probably worst possible spot.
The Indigo "somewhat" met our expectations.
Well kept, walking to all downtown, great views, great food
Sliding bathroom door. That’s it.
Perfect location and extremely comfortable!

It’s beautiful! Everyone was friendly. Located right downtown with a view of the bay.
Friendly staff clean hotel
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, timely valet, walking distance to so many shops and restaurants

Location
There was a used water bottle behind the nightstand. Also the room was not well lit.
Great location
Room rate is a bit high
I stayed two nights at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Traverse City.
It was a better-than-average stay, but one marked by inconsistent operating standards, maintenance and cleanliness issues, and a level of service that fell short of what the brand aspires to deliver.
The positives:
The hotel’s location is excellent and within walking distance of virtually everything in downtown Traverse City.
While valet parking is mandatory, the rate is reasonable, the service is efficient, and the underground garage is a major plus—especially in winter.
Front-of-house staff were generally friendly and pleasant.
The negatives:
IHG elite status recognition is poor to nonexistent. I was initially assigned a room on a lower floor even though my IHG preferences specify a high-floor room. I also did not receive an upgrade even though better room categories were available at the time of check-in.
The bar operation is weak. The staff is young and not particularly well trained. At one point, a bottle of white wine was served warm rather than properly chilled—an elementary service failure.
Breakfast service consists of guests seating themselves because there's no host or hostess. The two servers on duty were clearly stretched thin and would have benefited greatly from a host or hostess to manage seating and flow.
My room itself was comfortable, but the bathroom was not clean. There were multiple long strands of hair on the countertop where the toiletries are placed, under the toilet seat, and on the bathroom floor. The walk-in shower also showed visible mold or mildew. The in-room furniture was heavily scuffed, scratched, and visibly worn. The television appeared relatively new and offered an excellent channel selection. Elsewhere, however, the room felt dated. Accessible electrical and USB outlets were extremely limited, if not nonexistent. In 2025, multiple conveniently located outlets—especially USB—are an expectation, not a luxury. The hotel opened nearly a decade ago. So, it's at the point where, at the minimum, a light renovation is needed.
The overall operating standard was uneven. Hotel Indigo is an inconsistent brand: some properties are genuinely upscale, four-star, boutique-style hotels, while others are essentially upgraded select-service properties. This location falls into the latter category.
While the décor is certainly nicer than a Holiday Inn Express or Hyatt Place, the service and amenities do not rise much above that level.
There was no bellman or doorman to assist with luggage, no local newspapers, and the lobby pantry market was poorly stocked, lacking basics such as bottled water.
In the room, there were no complimentary bottles of water, no pen or paper, and the toiletries were the inexpensive Paul Mitchell mini-bottles that used to be used by Courtyard and Fairfield. One would reasonably expect additional amenities such as mouthwash, a vanity kit, and perhaps a robe and slippers.
The gym featured a mix older equipment and cheap Precor treadmills that lack the features of better quality treadmills from Life Fitness and Matrix. I've seen newly built Holiday Inn Express and Fairfield properties with bigger and better equipped gyms.
Most notably, daily housekeeping was not provided on the second day of my stay.
All things considered, Hotel Indigo Traverse City benefits greatly from its prime location. At the end of the day, however, it functions more like a Hyatt Place or Holiday Inn Express with better décor and a full-service bar and restaurant. At a nightly rate of $150–$185, it represents decent value. At anything higher, there are better options in the market.
Location to downtown is great.
Noisy rooms. Street traffic noise. Tried to double charge us for parking.that was prepaid. Had to request room cleaning.
We had a fantastic evening at the Indigo Hotel last Friday. Our group went for dinner and to hear local musician Jim Hawley perform, and the entire night exceeded expectations. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and Jim’s performance was outstanding. It felt less like a casual night out and more like a private concert. A great spot for a fun night with friends—highly recommend.
I’m an IHG Platinum Elite member and had an alarming experience at Hotel Indigo Traverse City in October 2025. Despite a confirmed reservation, I was told upon arrival late at night that the hotel could not accommodate me. I was left alone in the lobby with no assistance or clear transportation to an alternate hotel. After waiting for help that never came, I ultimately had to walk nearly half a mile in the rain after midnight to find a room. As a woman traveling alone, I felt unsafe and completely unsupported. I’ve escalated this to IHG, as no guest should ever be placed in such a dangerous situation.
Beautiful location in walking distance to many places
Nothing
We stayed two nights with family in a room next door. The staff were friendly at Che k in and valet parking was easy. Staff is the 24-7 and the cars come up quickly.
You can ask them to leave your car outside if you have an early departure.
We are in the roof top bar and ground floor bar (same menu) during our stay. The roof had blankets and heaters which helped in October. It’s a great spot for drinks and the food was good.
Kathy in the main floor bar was a delight. She was all alone on a Sunday night and worked her butt off. The quesadilla was good but the truffle fries were excellent.
Great location for everything in TC. The rooms were spacious with fridges (perplexed at other reviews). A few more hangers in the room would be nice.
Only downside was the A/C in the hallway had a bad odor and wasn’t addressed during our stay. A mild inconvenience that needs fixed.
Overall a good stay if you can find a decent rate. We had plenty of room for a playpen and floor space for an infant to play in. Bathrooms were big and water was very hot in shower if you wanted it.
We don’t notice the noise even though there’s lots of traffic.
Great!
Front desk friendly and helpful. Roomgood until I used the toilet which was stoned with feces in the bowl . Front desk notified and we saw housekeeper in the hallway and spoke to them. They were quick to fix
