Really nice overall, but Christ, some things really took it down to a 2 star.
Pros:

1. Maintenance. They are absolutely useless when it comes to maintenance, we had maintenance up to our 2 rooms 7 times in 3 days. They are trying to build a new complex, but they cannot maintain their current complex! Our door kept breaking (front and balcony), fridge didn’t work, AC didn’t work, and we didn’t have towels, no consistency between rooms, cleaners barged in… not great in this field.

2. Outdoor pools. Yes, they have 2 more indoor pools and they are absolutely lovely, but the outdoor pools were absolutely bloody freezing! (It was February but still unusable in 29°C weather). They need to add some heating, as it was unusable during our stay.

3. Staff. Most of them were so lovely, but some were absolutely horrible. For example, when our door broke for the first time, a man come over like nothing happened laughing, all jollying about, how utterly ridiculous. Again, when it broke AGAIN, one of the party members lost their temper with the door as we were late for an external trip, they walked off and the maids burst out laughing, how absolutely unacceptable for staff members trying to give a ‘amazing service’.

4. Building work. They are trying to build a new complex and it’s SO loud and disruptive. It’s not really nice to listen to while trying to enjoy the sun with a few beers.

Overall, it was an amazing stay with lovely breakfasts, mostly good staff and good for kids. I absolutely loved Morocco and will come again, the hotel was really nice, but they may need to up their game for more sales.

2/5, thank you!

Terrible service!!!
Pros:

This hotel has so much going for it. Lovely pools. 2 outside (unheard) and 2 inside (heated). Loads of outside space. Nice breakfast - loads of choice. Great location for the airport and Souks etc. The downside was the services and attention to detail in the rooms. We had maintenance up 7 times over our 3 night stay. Two rooms, both had safes that didn’t work, both doors locks to the balcony didn’t work at all (we had children). I had to literally shout at reception at 11pm to send someone up after asking for over 2 hours. The locks to the main room doors broke twice. AC didn’t work. No new towels. No new loo roll. Had to ask for water. MAJOR work going on it the hotel. Look at photos. If they could pull their fingers out and bother to recognise you’re actually paying to stay it would have been really lovely and I’d have come back.

Wonderful stay
Pros:

Sorry for the long review, but I wanted to be as informative as possible and share the information I would have liked to know before booking.

This was my 5th trip to Marrakesh and my first stay at Savoy Le Grand. I was quite nervous booking after reading some negative reviews, but overall I had a very pleasant experience.

From the moment we stepped out of the taxi, we were warmly welcomed by Salah (concierge) and the Moroccan tea man in reception. From check-in to check-out (4 days later), all staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Everyone we encountered spoke Arabic, French, and English, which made communication very easy.

The foyer is beautiful, and the grounds are extremely well cared for—even more beautiful than expected. That said, there is ongoing construction and upgrades, which are not mentioned on the website. This is currently their quiet season, and the main construction is above the reception building, which is being extended upwards. Noise started daily around 9:15am, drilling around 9:38am, and finished around 6:30pm. Estimated completion is 1 May 2026. If you request a room near the second smaller pool, the noise is much less noticeable. The noise is louder and echoes more around the main pool due to the square layout.

The hotel has four pools: two outdoor and two indoor. One indoor pool is heated and includes jacuzzi jets. There is also an additional indoor jacuzzi at the spa, charged at MAD 250 per person for one hour.

There are three à la carte restaurants on site: Moroccan, International, and Italian. Directly outside the hotel are a supermarket, Paul, Chilli’s, and Papa John’s. Please note that outside food is not allowed inside the hotel. There is an ATM in reception and direct access to Menara Mall, which closes at 10pm. In the evening there’s live entertainment music in the bar and outside a light & water fountain display.

Special thanks to Nabil at reception, who did an excellent job checking us in. He listened carefully to my needs and arranged early check-in to a ground-floor room close to the restaurants, spa, and gym, with a garden and pool view. Soundproofing from the pool area was good, although hallway noise does travel. The grounds are beautiful, but the ground-floor rooms occasionally had a sewage smell, which I’ve also experienced at other Moroccan hotels.

We did experience a few issues with our first room (heating not working, leaking fridge, slow-draining sink). Without us needing to complain, Soukayna from guest relations came first thing the next morning and immediately arranged for us to move to a beautiful suite. This level of customer service, care, and attentiveness is exactly what you expect from a 5-star hotel.

The suite was stunning—very spacious, with a separate living area, two balconies, lots of storage, mini fridge, large sofa, king-size bed, two TVs, kettle, coffee machine, safe, bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom had two sinks (standard rooms have one), plenty of toiletries (no washcloths), a large shower with both handheld and waterfall options, and excellent water pressure. There wasn’t much space to hang items, and there is a bidet hose beside the toilet. Thank you to the head cleaning lady for the final touches and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.

I’d like to thank all the staff for providing us with a wonderful stay. I love the Moroccan people—they are humble, kind, and always willing to help. Despite the construction, I achieved my goal of relaxation and a short break. This is now my new favourite hotel in Marrakesh, and I will definitely return and recommend it to friends and family.

Exceptional stay with wonderful service
Pros:

We had an amazing experience at the Savoy Hotel Marrakech. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The atmosphere, the comfort, the service, and the attention to detail truly made our stay special.
The breakfast was amazing, fresh, varied, and a true highlight of our mornings.
A very special thank you to Soukayna, the Guest Relation Manager, for her exceptional support and kindness. She was always available, professional, and genuinely caring, which made a huge difference during our stay. Thanks to her, my wife and I felt truly welcomed and well taken care of.
There was some construction noise, but it didn’t affect our wonderful experience.
We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back.

How a 5 stars hotel’s room should NOT be
Pros:

As return guest I was expecting the same product had in the past. I was definitely wrong. Room was dirty, carpets not vacuumed, shower box full of long hair, broken towels hanger, broken wc brush set, old frayed towels. Broken thermostat: not possible to switch off the heating or even regulate it. 25 degrees.
Had to sleep with open window and … it was by the way not possible close it because broken! Unbelievable.

Pros:

A Jack hammer going loudly all day every day which the hotel fail to tell you about!! An Aprol Spritz cocktail is €23 the most expensive I have ever paid! Hotel lobby and bar is really cold! No cosy place to sit! The bedrooms are not sound proof so people walking on the corridor talking will waken you up!!

Pros:

Review for Savoy Le Grand Hotel

This hotel is nowhere near a 5-star standard.

We are staying in the middle of an active construction site. Dust everywhere, daily demolition works, and constant noise from early morning until late evening. Drilling and hammering all day long. There was no prior warning about this. Completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be luxury.

Breakfast is total chaos. We waited 30 minutes for coffee and never received it. There were no cups near the coffee machine. Staff ignored us and clearly served local guests first.

Room cleaning is extremely poor. Housekeeping is basic only. Bed linen was not changed for 5 days, floors were never cleaned and felt sticky.

Every time we enter the hotel, our bags are checked to make sure we are not bringing in drinks or snacks bought outside. We are also constantly asked to confirm our room number. This does not feel like a holiday — it feels like constant inspection and surveillance.

By far the worst so-called 5-star hotel we have ever stayed in.
Very disappointing and absolutely not worth the price.

Superb Family Stay at Savoy
Pros:

Family stay at Savoy Hotel and had a very positive experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well presented, and the staff were consistently helpful throughout our stay. The location was convenient for getting around, and the facilities were exactly what we needed for a smooth and enjoyable visit. Everything ran without any issues, and the overall standard of service was excellent. The hotel is well maintained, and it was very easy to settle in. It was a brilliant stay, and we would definitely book again on our next trip. The staff were great, especially Yusuf the porter dude and, Hamza at at the breakfast team did a fantastic job each morning.

Good value for money. Room to improve.
Pros:

The hotel is not far from the airport. It may have looked somptuos in the past, but now there is a site under construction so when you arrive, you may have the feeling of some scaffolding falling down to you. The construction site is neither covered nor protected, so you see the workers and hear the noise. When you step in the hotel, things are getting better. The staff is nice and helpful. I was impressed by the security: they always make sure that no intruders can enter in the area. Prices are decent compared to other places. Breakfast is rich (especially compared to competitor La Mamounia). Cleaning happens everyday, we had no problem to use EU or US currency. Spa is decent. Very close (short walking distance) there is a famous Buddha Bar: it is a must if you stay in Marrakech for a few nights. There is also a shopping mall stuck to the hotel, for emergency shopping issues. I would recommend it as a smart choice for a few days in Marrakech.

Big 5* Disappointment
Pros:

I was at the Savoy Le Grand Hotel 26th Nov to 30th Nov visiting Marrakech for the first time with my family and friends to celebrate a 60th Birthday.
The location of the hotel was great, 10 mins from the Airport and walking distance to the gardens. While the property was beautiful on the outside and kept pristine, the lack of customer service was unacceptable, and complete disregard for what were genuine concerns on the state of the room, specifically from the front desk staff.
Not only were we told on arrival that our room might have been given away to someone else with a similar name, even though they asked for my passport to double check the booking. They made us wait 40 mins while they sorted out a room.
The room itself had no hot water on the first night, then we realised that the fall in the tiles for the shower were laid in the wrong direction, hence all the water ended up all over the bathroom floor, to which we had to use up all our towels.
Once we raised the issue, They did send out a technician who seemed to confirm my suspicions, but the solution was to send house keeping as opposed to change the room for us as requested. The front desk staff completely ignored our concerns, got to the point where we were just walking on wet towels everytime we took a shower.
Service was slow and often unable to contact someone by phone to request items. However, it has to be mentioned that the concierge guys and housekeeping staff were very welcoming, friendly and always helpful.
Overall, absolutely disappointed in our stay. Certainly not a 5 star hotel or service.

Lower your expectations
Pros:

A spacious 5-star property that didn’t quite meet the class or standard expected.
While the staff were warm and welcoming, service was slow and often lacked attention to detail, with follow-up needed.
The room was very noisy beside the lift, and had a few small maintenance issues along with a stained towel. The bed was great! Very comfortable.
Breakfast was a little overwhelming free for all and the food itself was only average.
Several signs were misspelled across the hotel — something I wouldn’t expect to slip through in a 5-star environment.
Overall, a large and friendly hotel, but far from the elegance, consistency and polish associated with a 5-star experience.

Great family trip
Pros:

We visited as a family and stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. Incredible choice, it was absolutely ginormous and felt very palacial ! Housekeeping were fabulous too.
Really enjoyed the pool area, always easy to find a good spot and poolside service was great. Yes, pool wasn't heated but very thankful for this after baking in the sun. Building work was a bit noisy but can't say it had an impact. (Though I did feel for the staff in reception as it was noisiest there)
Great location for Menara Mall, we enjoyed this in the evenings as it was very lively and a great experience. Only a short taxi ride to the Medina and easily arranged. Private tours were more expensive but the staff were fantastic and it really was a 5* experience.
Breakfast was incredible, probably the best selection we've seen. Service a bit hit and miss for a hotel of this standard, but if you accept that you can easily get your own drinks and coffees then it really isn't an issue.
We would like to return, overall a lovely stay!

Building work avoid as there are nicer places out there
Pros:

The staff at reception and concierge were lovely and helpful.
Bar and restaurant staff where slow, clueless and inefficient! Also very expensive!
The pool area was nice but cold.
Our room was a bedroom with lounge split over 2 rooms with a terrace. Nicely done but not finished as one room.
There is major building work on the top of the hotel for extra restaurants. We did not receive any communication from the hotel regarding this. It was noisy all day long and can be heard and seen from our room and look. We would have cancelled if we had known, a lot of money for a noisy time at the pool and bar.

Building work
Pros:

Great location, but definitely not a 5 star hotel. Building work going on from 8-4 which can be heard from the main pool area. No warning on the website or with the booking agent.

Thier response to complaining was to use the other pool and the building work didn't impact our holiday!!

The lack of customer service let's them down, which is shame as it could be a great hotel.

A building site with very poor service! Avoid at all costs
Pros:

We booked the Savoy expecting something a little bit special. When we arrived, you couldn't see the front of the building, it was just a massive building site. All day long there are power drills and hammers et cetera going on and there is absolutely no escape. It doesn't matter where your room is located in the hotel, or you can hear is the racket from the building site so, don't expect any relaxation while you're here. The staff are obviously very fed up with this as the service level has gone through the floor. Over half an hour to get a drink on most occasions. I wouldn't mind but over £20 for an appal spritz?
We're trying to move hotels tomorrow as there's not much fun staying here.

Surprised to find scaffolding:(
Pros:

Upon arrival, unbeknown to us (no prior notice on booking.com 😠) - there was a lot of scaffolding at the entrance with lots of cranes, pilings & noisy buildings works going on. This meant the usual relaxing lobby was not - and it was very noisy around the outside pool & restaurants. However, the bedrooms are at the back, so much quieter and didn’t hear any buildings works from our room at the back of the hotel. The staff were very attentive, the breakfast choice was extensive & the Italian restaurant did make a dinner for us that wasn’t on the menu👍 Also, the gym has lots of great equipment and the indoor pool is really lovely. But - you have to pay for the sauna, spa, etc in advance, which we were not told of beforehand. I should mention the free Menara Gardens nearby - a 20-minute walk to a local park set within extensive olive orchards with a reservoir pool (no swimming), pavilion (have to pay to enter only the pavilion) and a couple of ramshackle cafes that serve great tea! I will do more research next time👍
