It is centrally located in the town and easy to access. The property is clean and well maintained.

Our room was damp to the point that if you walked on the carpet with socks on they were soaked! The sheets were damp and uncomfortable. It appeared that there was some type of small dehumidifier but obviously did not take care of the dampness. Very disappointed!

In general, we have stayed here several times at various times of the year, and been very satisfied. This time, our room was very humid, to the point of the bed feeling clammy. Room 111, my daughter was in 115 and did not feel humid at all. Do not know what was different between the rooms. This is the first time we have not been completely satisfied with a stay at this American Inn.

Check in and check out was easy. The pool area was big along with the pool. The hot tub was not working, but they did have a sauna. Breakfast was ok. Typical hotel breakfast. Beds were comfy and rooms were clean. All of the staff we encountered were very pleasant!

Easy check-in. Comfortable room. Everything was good. I received 3 separate check-in confirmations. I will watch my CC to make sure only one charge.

I did not make reservations for Hampton, Iowa and never stayed there. I called AmericInn yesterday and told them this and said I did not make reservations in Hampton, Iowa. I don’t even know where

The staff was very friendly! We were there for a trade show and the area was very accommodating for several of us at once. Breakfast was great! A lot of options with hot and fresh food. I will definitely stay here again

The room was clean but smelled similar to burnt popcorn, as did the bedding. To cover this they used a plug in air freshener that was overwhelming and gave me a headache. The bed was too close to the wall/air conditioner making it difficult to walk past without bumping into it. The wardrobe placement in the entry way was obnoxious and inconvenient. Not the facility’s fault but there’s train tracks close and three trains came through overnight blowing their horns. Lighting was very dim-everywhere except the bathroom. Staff was very pleasant!

I reserved a pet-friendly room through Expedia fully expecting that upon my arrival. I was given a regular room and asked the desk clerk for a pet-friendly room as requested. She said that they don't receive that information from Expedia and that I would have been required to contact them directly for one of those rooms. Since none were available at check-in, I had to pay another $15 fee and agree to a $200 refundable deposit if the staff approved of the room condition at check-out. The staff person at check-out did not want to come view the room and said "I will take your word for it". I took pictures and videos to confirm no damage as a precaution. Our dog weighed two pounds and stayed in kennel unless carried outside for her walks. Also, there was a strong aroma of marijuana on the second floor and into our room during our stay. Outside, there was debris from an overnight storm (day before our stay) that littered the sidewalks. No one appeared to have attempted to remove the limbs, branches, etc from the sidewalks (still present at check-out). Overall, a very disappointing stay considering we reserved our room in good faith only to find out that wasn't good enough.
