Once moved room it was better but would not book again

I booked months in advance but was given the worst room in the hotel right next to reception so it was so noisy. The pool area is very shaded and for the first couple of days there were no seats.

Comfortable stay
Pros:

Good location for Sanur beach - near restaurants and cafes. The Family room is quite roomy. The staff are lovely.
Good price for a 3 star hotel.

Cons:

We were unlucky to get a room near the lift motor, we could hear some thumping noise.

Cons:

Having booked a two-week stay at Abian Harmony based on the positive reviews, photos, and price, I thought I had made a good choice for myself as a single mother travelling with two young children aged 6 and 2.

Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.

The rooms were extremely dated and in need of maintenance. The air conditioning struggled to cool the room and seemed to simply circulate warm air, while the bathroom had no ventilation or opening windows, and the smell from the bathroom was at times unbearable.

As a parent of a toddler, safety was a major concern. There was no latch, chain, or secondary lock on the room door to prevent my two-year-old from opening it and running out towards the pool area. On more than one occasion this happened, and although staff told me I needed to supervise him more closely, there was simply no way to secure the door from the inside. This made the stay unnecessarily stressful.

There were also small black flies throughout the room, the tiled floors became extremely slippery when wet, and the shower head had no wall attachment and had to be held by hand while showering.

Most concerning of all, one afternoon my toddler discovered an opened can of insecticide spray that had been left in the room by housekeeping. It was easily within his reach and only inches away from being put into his mouth. This represented a serious safety risk.

Guests should also be aware that a 21% service charge is added to drinks purchased from the pool bar. In addition, drinks cannot be charged to your room or added to a tab, meaning payment is required immediately with each order.

The incident that ultimately led me to leave the hotel occurred when I opened the room safe and discovered two small orange pills individually wrapped in cling film with suspicious markings on them. They appeared very similar to ecstasy tablets.

When I took them to reception, I was shocked that staff initially suggested they may have belonged to me.

They upgraded us but the room didn’t feel or look upgraded so asked to move to the room I’d originally booked was so much better till I had a shower it didn’t drain well and ended up flooding the bathroom

No hot water, when water was running it smelt like sewage. Lift didn’t cover all levels, had to carry suitcases up stairs.
