Very elegant and a great location near cafes. Parking difficult and car park arrangement is a distance from accomodation. Apart from that the room and hotel was delightful. We had a balcony room with a partial harbour view lovely to sit outside and take in the Sydney view.
Parking was difficult
From the moment I walked in, the hotel felt thoughtfully curated. The subtle Country Road mahogany fragrance throughout the property created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the luxurious bathroom amenities were a lovely touch. Every detail felt intentional, making the stay feel far more premium than expected. The staff were exceptional: warm, professional, and genuinely accommodating. Their hospitality made me feel valued from check-in to check-out. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend Hotel Challis to anyone visiting Sydney.
Honestly, very little. If I had to mention anything, it would simply be that I wish I could have stayed longer. It was a wonderful experience overall.
Location and the price
N/A
Beautifully presented boutique hotel in heritage building, tastefully decorated rooms. Bed very comfortable. No breakfast options, but not an issue as so many excellent cafes close by.
Despite the hotel clearly not being at full occupancy, we were disappointed to receive a room which was very small for the Queen room we booked, more like a Small Double. Space only for the bed and bureau, no in-room seating. There was a Guest Lounge downstairs but with very few (and not comfortable) chairs if you wanted to sit and relax somewhere. Our room was on the top floor, as far from the elevator as it could be, and up an additional 2 flights of stairs. For the high level of fitout, I would have expected more than instant coffee in the room, and more tiny milk sachets for a 2 night stay. Window was painted shut, so no fresh air option despite alluding to opening capability.
The location was excellent and easy to walk to key places in Sydney
The key cards stopped working frequently.
Rooms are lovely. The exterior of the hotel is lovely. There are lovely restaurants around there in Potts Point.
I did specify a late check in and got to the hotel and there was no one on reception and the name my booking was under was incorrect. So that was a bit tricky. I had to call the emergency line to get someone to sort it out.
Very comfortable by a great 😊😊Bus service through to Kings Cross is perfectly easy. Lovely waiting room xxu iiio
Gm mm away for suitcases for easy of travelling without luggage.
Great location within walking distance from Kings Cross station. The hotel is in a beautifully restored building that is very welcooming as soon as one arrives. Staff were friendly, courteous & helpful when checking in & out. The room itself was large enough for two people with comfortable bed, good wifi and a good bathroom. Waling distance to everything the area has to offer.
The bathroom itself while good, required a couple of stairs to enter. This the required a slight maneouvre to open the shower door itself. Understand why is has been designed this way however it felt a little awkward entering or leaving the bathroom itself.
Location, neighbourhood, building itself was lovely.
Rooms were quite pokey and not a lot of space. The bathrooms were tiny and it is clear why they don’t advertise these spaces. Water took at least 5-10 minutes to get hot and the pipes are very loud and squeaky. When another room is using the bathroom the showers are extremely loud.
Lovely sunny terrace to sit and relax after sightseeing. Walking distance to the art gallery, botanical gardens and the city
