Beautiful characterful building. Tastefully decorated. Set in lovely grounds.
There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.
This really was a beautiful hotel, we were entranced, very cool room with leaded glass windows in arches. This was a piece of living history. We would stay here again for sure, it was an awesome room, roomy and comfortable with modern touches and old world charm.
Our biggest issue here was the cooking. A good example was the raspberry panacotta I had for dessert. The panacotta was lovely by itself but it was almost impossible to eat. The thin slice of pannacotta was sandwiched between two biscuits slathered in a thick icing. You couldn't cut through the biscuits. There was twice as much biscuit and icing as pannacotta. If they had left the top biscuit totally off and doubled the amount of the pannacotta it would have been a good dessert. Same for other things we ate, the ceaser salad was a bowl full of croutons and bacon, there was more croutons and bacon than romaine, almost entirely inedible for me, it is supposed to be a salad, not a soup with lettuce leaves.
It was relaxing once had parked my car
Absolutely nothing
The hotel’s general ambiance and position, being a short walk away from the city centre. Plenty of parking in the hotel’s car park. The polite, friendly staff. Our lovely, spacious room overlooking the gardens with a very comfortable super king bed and “His” & “Her” bathroom. Excellent breakfasts with something for everyone. A real treat having waiter/waitress service.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the hotel. We felt truly pampered!
Favourite place to stay!
Parking can be tricky sometimes
Beautiful property with lots of old world charm mixed with modern touches.
Lovely light and airy room. That had all the necessities. Loved the cafetière in my room and the selection of locally produced tea/coffee/biscuits.
Room was clean and spotless
Super king bed was super comfy
Peaceful surroundings but only a short walk into the City centre.
Ample parking.
Really enjoyed the buffet breakfast alongside freshly prepared options
My room was a fair distance from reception with narrow staircases in parts (due to the age/style of the building) this made carrying a heavy suitcase pretty challenging even for a fit 40yr old so I would definitely recommend asking for portage to assist.
I would have liked a mirror near or above a plug socket for styling my hair.
Bathroom ceiling and sash windows needed repairing or replacing due to age but this didn’t affect my stay
Although not directly the hotels fault my hire car was damaged in the car park (I believe this was likely from another guest dragging their suitcase alongside the vehicle.
Lovely, well-maintained, interesting buildings.
Restaurant was too expensive for us on a routine stay
Nice and quiet and clean
Nothing
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Alverton Hotel.
The staff were friendly, amazing and so very helpful.
Fantastic hotel with lovely original features.
We needed to change from double to twin rooms. This was no trouble and the reception staff even had our bags taken to the room! Brilliant 👏
Everything was fabulous. No negatives.
Location right in the heart of Truro, the ambiance of the hotel the individual design of the bedroom and quality of the linen. The staff are very helpful and nothing is to much trouble for them .The building has a history to it .
