Pros:

Lovely place. Clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Singing fish boat trip is really worth doing and the guide was lovely.

Schöne Location für einen Übernachtungsstop an der Ostküste
Pros:

Hotel mit besonderem Charme, wunderschöner Garten, tolle Lage an der Lagune.

Cons:

Das Personal im Restaurantbereich war freundlich, aber überfordert (sehr lange Wartezeiten, unaufmerksam, es wurde immer wieder was vergessen)

Cons:

Wo soll ich anfangen… wir reisten einen Tag früher ab (nach der ersten Nacht), aber von vorne: Wir kamen an und hatten ein Zimmer gebucht ohne Klimaanlage (unser Fehler). Wir fragten für ein Upgrade (gegen Aufpreis) und bekamen ein Zimmer mit Klimaanlage. Das Zimmer war nicht Sauber (Sand am Boden, Wurm in der Dusche, muffiges Zimmer).
Als ich das Upgrade bezahlen gehen wollte, war es den 2 Herren in der Rezeption zu viel von ihrem Handy abzulassen und die Kritik an der Sauberkeit und der Zahlung anzunehmen. Ich ging dann wieder, da ich die Herren nicht am Scollen stören wollte. Dann war direkt neben dem Zimmer eine Geburtstagsparty mit sehr lauter Musik bis 23:00 Uhr. Kein Resortgefühl.

Beautiful location spoiled by lack of care

LOCATION and the breakfast was good

Cons:

I think they must’ve had a complete staff transplant since previous reviews. I felt like we were a real inconvenience. The rooms weren’t cleaned or towels replaced once in 4 days. The restaurant completely overcooked the beautiful seafood to the point I couldn’t eat it. The sun beds were hard and uncomfortable, no pads on them. The shower wasn’t strong enough to wash the sand off. There was no wifi the whole time we were there and consequently we had to pay them cash, which meant a trip to the ATM before checking out.

Pros:

Freundliches Personal, das sein bestes versucht, einen angenehmen Aufenthalt in einer heruntergekommenen Anlage zu ermöglichen

Cons:

Völlig überteuert,
Viel Plastikmüll und Kuhdung am Strand
Anlage heruntergewirtschaftet
Offensichtlich kein Geld für Reparatur und Wartung

Pros:

Lots of trees and bird life in a great location on the edge of the lagoon.  The pool could be lovely if it were better maintained.

Cons:

Like Batticaloa itself, this place has lots of potential but needs someone to give it a thorough overhaul.

We were disappointed with the quality of the facilities: broken pool tiles, littered grounds, etc. We stayed in the two bedroom house, which needs serious renovation and cleaning. Other residential units seem to be more modern and better maintained.

After disappointing food and service in the on site restaurant, we went elsewhere. Soull Kitchen near the beach was excellent.

Mooie plek dichtbij de stad. Slechts een paar minuten met de tuktuk.

Daarnaast is er ook een erg fijn restaurant bij het verblijf.

Schöne Anlage mit vielen Mängeln
Pros:

Lage direkt an der Lagune mit schönem Pool inmitten von Palmen. Das Personal im Restaurant war nett.

Cons:

Es mag dort andere Zimmer geben, aber unseres war ein umgebauter, alter, verdreckter Frachtcontainer, der einfach nur heruntergekommen, kaputt und abgewohnt war.

Tranquillity in a beautiful lagoon side setting

We had the absolute pleasure of staying in one of the new luxury cabins and it was a real joy! Incredibly comfortable beds, beautifully decorated, very spacious and spotlessly clean - we really loved it and didn’t want to leave!
There are several different standards of accommodation which are quite different from each other, but they are all in the beautiful lagoon setting surrounded by nature.
The pool (though in need of a bit of TLC) was a lovely addition and in a beautiful setting, we really enjoyed having this option and used several times during our stay. Riviera Resort has been one of the highlights of our trip so far!

Cons:

The pool is beautiful but could be even better with a bit of TLC.

The house we booked was unavailable.

Leaving. It was a great relief.

Cons:

The house we booked, with two bedrooms for our family, was not available when we arrived. They had given it to someone else. We stayed one night because it was getting too late to organize an alternative place to stay. There was no reception staff on duty to help, only the new owner whose only concern was how much he might be able to charge us. He didn’t tell the staff working in the morning the price that we had agreed. The lagoon is full of crocodiles.
