- The man and the woman managing the place were friendly.
- Beautiful garden and pavilion.
- The surroundings and view was great. Very quiet area with lots of jungle and a great view.
- Almost as close to Jungle Beach as you could get with accommodation.
- The rooms and amenities were quite worn and several items were out of order or had been removed: TV-mount with no TV, soap dispenser with no soap, power outlets with no power.
- The pool and outside areas (except the garden) were worn and required maintenance. E.g. the pool had lots of stains from wear and tear, which made it unappealing.
- It was quite hard to get breakfast at a time earlier than 10am in the area, which made it not that friendly for kids. Also only very local options. The hotel provided breakfast if we requested in advance, but it was $10 USD pp for a pretty basic continental breakfast. Same price in Unawatuna would get you a more luxurious meal.
- (Nothing the hotel could do, but): Jungle Beach is way more crowded than the pictures show and everywhere is full of Russians. It ruined our expectations a bit, because we had booked this *because* of its proximity to Jungle Beach.
A lot of the existing photos on Booking.com were +8 years old, which we didn't realise when we booked.
If some of the above things were addressed, I would also be happy with paying a bit more. I understand now why this place was cheaper than others.
We were with family in January 2025. Very cozy hotel. The owners of the hotel are very hospitable and do everything possible to make guests feel comfortable. The closest location to the beach. I recommend this hotel.

Super friendly staff 😊
Very quiet, though we did stay in the off season, so that's to be expected. Hotel is a little remote, but easily accessible by tuktuk.
Staff very friendly.
The Villa Baywatch is in a unique location. It is steps away from the Peace Pagoda and just minutes away from Jungle Beach. This hill has a special legend attached to explain why the plants here are found no where else. My room was cheerful and comfortable. The meals are very good. You can get lunch at the beach, too. Ft Galle is close by with many things to see and do. I fell and broke my arm while visiting Ft Galle. The owner of Villa Baywatch made sure I went to the hospital and the tuk tuk driver stayed with me. Other staff members at the hotel were very helpful. I can't recommend this hotel enough.
Hotel is relatively new & modern and clean and our room had a nice view of the Galle bay. The staff and the owner were super nice. It is also located walking distance to a beach. The Beach is very quiet and pretty but there seems to be a disturbing trend in Sri Lanka with trash and disposable consumables (packaging) & plastic trash collecting all over the place. This area and the beach was no exception. We found several pieces of large plastic bottles, soft drinks & packages and cigarettes on the beach. Generally speaking we rarely saw any trash bins or any facilities for people to dispose their waste properly in all these tourist heavy locations. Even places like Sigiriya (a UNESCO world heritage site!) had a big trash problem all around it. Super sad. I hope Sri Lankans can rally take care of their beautiful island nation a little better or else this place will not be much of a tourist attraction for much longer!
That said, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again if we are in the area.
small hotel, big mess behind the reception desk and in the open store room. First they
had to change the dirty sheets, a TV with no connection, the room needs a makeover. In
short the hotel is largly overpriced, not to be recomended. A new pool is beeing built,
no time for maintenance.
