Nothing we didn’t like
Superb breakfast with excellent service and delicious food. The non-buffet style breakfast was a wonderful surprise and resulted in a more relaxed and tasty meal. The evening dinner was superb fine dining and should not be missed.
Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable
Due to the heat, the lack of air-conditioning, resulted in an extremely hot room especially at night. The hotel should consider the installation of a central air condition for the rooms
Very clean, traditional English hotel with very attentive and willing staff. Beautiful sea view room with wet room was large and well decorated.
Restaurant food was excellent.
No air conditioning and staying during the heatwave and the single supplied fan in room wholly inadequate with room temps dangerously high throughout stay.
Pillows were very hard although very comfy bed.
Room service for breakfast - was only ‘allowed’ continental in room - disappointing when paying £230 a night.
Sea view room lovely but on busy road with boy racers sharing who’s got the loudest exhaust!
Love love love this hotel. It’s a regular for us. Fantastic Resturant great quality. Great choice at breakfast. Robe, slippers, bottled water ( a mini fridge would be nice in the superior rooms)
Think that there should be a more luxury soap in the superior rooms, and plug sockets near to the bed… it does say there are sockets near the bed but in the superior double they were across the room near the coffee, which isn’t ideal at all. fortunately we had very long charger leads, however Sadly the room was the worst we’ve had at this hotel purely for location. It was above the entrance of the hotel and as it was a super hot wkend we had to have the windows open as the fan was noisy… BIG MISTAKE The local drunks congregated under the window and apart from cursing and singing loudly they then went on to smoke weed which drifted into the room, even when we closed the windows we could still hear them. This was the worse wkend ever, then there were some Allergy issues ( which were eventually dealt with by the manager) but then we had a terrible issue with the bills…. Which again were eventually dealt with by Simon, but sad to say this was the final nail in the coffin for us😢😢. We will come again as this hotel holds sentimental memories for us so we are convinced that our next stay will be completely different as long as we don’t have room 116 again and allergy requirements are taken care of.
Position
Very dated and needs a complete make over
At breakfast and dinner the food was excellent. The service was good. Lovely location on the seafront.
It is a long - but pleasant walk to the tennis at Devonshire Park. Our room was quite small
The staff at this hotel were all excellent despite working in such hot onerous conditions. They were clearly very well trained and enjoyed working in a very professional team. Breakfast was good and promptly served. The room was clean and comfortable, whilst a fan provided at least helped against the heat. For an additional charge our car was locked inside a secure compound for the duration of our stay. We will return.
Nothing else required
Friendly staff
Nice bar with value for money tasty light meals and snacks
Parking just across the road
Our room was small and hot
The formal dinner menu was a little disappointing
Breakfast was good staff very friendly and welcoming
Size of room was so small and very hot and uncomfortable. They did provide us with a fan.
We had to pay 13.00 for parking and it was not on the premises too. This was very expensive.
Excellent location. Super-friendly and efficient staff. Very good breakfasts. Had a nice, family-run feel to the place.
Aircon would have been nice given the heatwave - but this would involve some very major internal and external work. The fan proved just about adequate. A very minor quibble, but I’d much prefer my toast to be served with my cooked breakfast rather than with my fruit juice; that way ther’ll still be a vestige of warmth left!!
DOG FREE HOTEL
Welcome feeling.
Good food hygiene
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel had a traditional look and in good condition. The location was great, on the seafront but away from the busy and noisy area by the pier. Only a short walk along the seafront though.
It was one mile away from the tennis at Devonshire Park which was our reason for staying, it only took 20 minutes to walk there.
Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the toiletries were very nice.
Unfortunately we went in a heatwave and our room was very hot.
There was no air conditioning but was provided with an electric fan which helped a bit.
It didn’t spoil our stay though.
The staff were fabulous. Nice area to sit outside for drinks and lunch.
While it was quick and efficient and the staff were helpful, the choice of food at breakfast was very limited.
Also, vegan options for lunch and dessert were very limited.
Central, friendly staff, spacious rooms with stunning views of the sea
Restaurant not available in the evening - short staffed meant we were unable to book a table
We were greeted by the night manager and the external door was opened for us within seconds of our arrival (the long ramp to the front door was very useful!). Allocated our room (sadly not with a few of the sea - but we did book very late) but nevertheless quite pleasant and was very clean with good quality furnishings. Useful number of sockets (no USBs though). Comfy bed and lots of extras which were much appreciated such as bottled water, hot chocolate, tea and coffee. Sadly our TV wouldn't work as it seemed the wifi wasn't working although the night manager did try and sort this out to no avail. Very friendly staff and lovely breakfast although I would have preferred to have the option of a real treat such as eggs benedict for example. The hotel offered a more traditional breakfast menu but were very accommodating. All round very good in a well maintained traditional sea front hotel. Would definitely stay there again.
Fabulous Hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great location on the seafront.
You do have to prebook parking.
