Laya Waves

This property has all it takes to be a beach paradise and doesn't cost a fortune (thus you should forgive some minor faults). All the rooms have a sea view, the pool is almost straight out on the beach, and the beach itself is spectacular. It also doesn't feel like a chain resort, which in my opinion is a big plus. Only two hotels on this side of peninsula mean that for most of the time you're completely on your own on the sand. And you can walk for miles without meeting anyone! However, when bored with it, you can walk or take a tuk-tuk to the other beach with more hotels and more tourists, where the sea is also much calmer.

The service was very good. We had some glitches with communication, but that can be forgiven in this part of the world and of the island. The restaurant is reasonably priced (curry set for two for 1200Rs, excellent tuna sandwich or seafood soup in the range of 500). Breakfast buffet was delicious and abundant, however on the first day there were too little guest to organize it and on that day we were dissappointed, as there is no selection or menu to know what is available (can you have cereal, juice, some fruits? you have to ask for everything). The only fault with the service is sometimes their speed, or the lack of it.

Overal, I would come back here for sure. But beware - apart from the other hotels there are not many options to eat or hang around - but the beach and the vibe is wonderfull.

Wonderful Sri Lankan hospitality at its very best. Great food, great room, very clean, great view. Yes there were a few language issues but I consider that our problem not theirs, after all it's there country. Very hard to find any fault. Wished we had stayed longer as we moved onto Trinco Blu by Cinnamon and really missed Laya Waves. Maybe we had been spoilt as nowhere else seemed to match it. I really don't understand any negative comments about this hotel.

Pros: close to the beach and has a pool, good buffet breakfast, good room size and comfort

Cons: dinner service was terrible- the staff lurk constantly, one male worker spent staring at myself (a young girl) for 30min plus and was not discouraged by my obvious annoyance. The staff have very limited English.

Safe and warm services. Affordable rates. They made sure we were well taken care of as part of their own family. All the staff including their General Manager took the time to talk to us, and ensure we were safe travelling all-female-mini-group. The rooms and the grounds are also well kept. We booked a family room which had a single queen bed with a superb beach view from the bed itself, and two extra single beds on the up-stair-attic. The bath room was huge and clean. But it has a small shower cubicle inside, which made the showering experience a little too cluttered.The room had free WiFi, but it was too slow to get your regular work done. Our suite also came kitchen/ pantry room. It also came with it's own large drying rack, which became very useful. However, a hotel gym is yet to be added. Location is a 3 minute-tuk-tuk drive away from the rest of the Pasikuda Resort area, which gives Laya Waves guests it's own large and more private beach access. The hotel will arrange transportation including tuk tuk drives for you, if you need them.
Overall, can recommend Laya without any hesitation to anyone.

Our best hotel experience in Sri Lanka. Everything was perfect, the staff with a great chef and delicious meals and sea food. The location is relaxing and very quiet, beautiful beach to swim. Rooms, all sea view are very comfortable and well furnished.
