We did not stay there as it was undergoing renovations. They arranged for us to have student accommodation nearby.

HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED Unpleasant experience

1. Listing on Booking.com website said 4 star. NO WAY
2. Page said '' High speed internet''. NO CONNECTIVITY in room, only avail in lobby of hotel.

Routers in corridors did not work
(I booked for 3 day stay to complete a book I was writing. Internet -even low speed- was vital to my stay)
3. Bed in room was soggy and uncomfortable.
4. No lift/ DIFFICULT FOR DISABLED
5. Energy saving light in corridors were slow to turn on. UNCOMPORTABLE FOR DISABLED
6. NO HOT BREAKFAST AVAILABLE. CHEF DIDN'T SHOW UP
7. Breakfast room had MANY FLYING INSECTS. PLACEMATS DIRTY
8. OYO has refused any communication or requested refund
--- I CHECKED OUT 22 HOURS AFTER CHECK-IN. HANDED KEYS IN. STILL CHARGED FOR 3 DAYS ---
Gossip - Locals I spoke to all said place was run by 'gangsters and drugs were being sold out of hotel', despite be next to police station

Pros:

OYO Gin house is a quirky hotel. Some works were underway while we were there so I'm not quite sure which direction it's going in but the staff were great, breakfast was good and the room was clean and comfortable. It's ideally suited for Greenock town centre.
The hotel has a bar area, acceptably priced.
The staff were excellent.

Cons:

The breakfast space is laid out like a Tiki Bar built with pallets...very strange, unnecessary and quite a limiting use of the space.
Works are underway in what appears to be the bar/ restaurant space so maybe things are being changed around. We'll visit again to see.

Uitstekend voor een nachtje
Pros:

Lekker (continentaal) ontbijt met voldoende yoghurt en muesli. Groot pluspunt: cappuccino van Dolce Gusto zodat ik zeker weet dat hij lekker smaakt.

Cons:

Het is een doolhof... de bewegwijzering kan beter.

Brilliant. I’ve said everything above and when we come back , Gin House is where we will be staying ☺️

Central to Greenock town centre, can walk there in minutes.
My sister and I usually stay at the premier inn, however it was fully booked. What can we say , lucky us!
Gin House has a seated area and a bar so there was always somewhere to sit other than the room. Staff were super friendly as were the people staying there. No one passed without speaking.
Rooms were clean, tidy. There was tea, coffee, and biscuits. Bathroom had shampoo, shower gel etc. Can I also say the rooms were warm ☺️.
Apparently this is a budget hotel but I couldn’t have asked for more. It was way better than a lot of the well known hotels. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time.
Unsure if Gin House lets staff know but big thanks to Kiara who booked us in and made us feel more than welcome. She took time to chat to us and was absolutely lovely. Also, Janice from house keeping. Super friendly and amazing banter. Thank you all ❤️ .
