Penny Wise and Pound Foolish Updates Make for a Very Sub-Standard Guest Experience
Pros:

The staff was friendly, the bed was clean and comfortable, the room was recently remodeled (albeit to a bare-minimum of craftsmanship), and the shower was good.

Cons:

The remodel throughout was bare-minimum updates to a very old property, and not well done. The shower door didn't stay closed, the door frames, all hardware, and door stoppers were the same ancient hardware (saved money), the hot tub (didn't use) had spiders and dust in it and was original to the property (1980s ish).

Room had no artwork. Felt sterile and very much like a better quality hotel room in some of the developing nations I've stayed in.

Random loud plumbing or other noises throughout the night.

Aircon was ancient and couldn't keep room a consistent temp all night.

Weird room layout. TV was 15+ away from bed (not exaggerating). No closet. There was an iron, but no ironing board. No in-room coffee maker.

The hallway was remodeled but still dirty and tired besides the updated paint and flooring.

The "breakfast" was cereal, coffee, make your own waffle, and store-bought bagels in individual Zip-Lock baggies. No eggs, no hot food, no breakfast meats, no juices, no teas.
