The staff were so friendly and helpful! Food at the bar/restaurant was good. The last day I needed to leave super early and the staff packed a big breakfast for me ! There are 2 pagodas in the garden.
I can understand the situation has been hard for the hospitality lines but the facility is quite old, there is molds on the walls in the corners and towels are kind of gray/yellowish .. I saw the sign in the garden that leads to the river bank but unfortunately the path way is blocked.
Everything - the most friendly and welcoming staff I have ever met. The food is excellent and everyone from reception to restaurant takes great care of customers. They upgraded my room for free. Situated in Old Bagan. Most places are very easy to reach. Will certainly come again.
Nothing
Great location in old Bagan.
Spacious room and a riverside restaurant with spectacular sunset view!
The room is very spacious.
But the bathroom needs to be repaired. The towels are worn and frayed.
It was very cold during the night (end Dec)
Everything about our stay at Bagan Hotel River View was excellent-- from the views, to the staff, to the pool, to our room and small patio. We were able to rent e-bikes from the hotel and bike around the pagodas, which was lovely. The thoughtfulness that went in to each and every detail of this hotel made our 2-day stay not at all long enough. Would highly recommend to anyone going through Bagan.
Fantastic location amidst thousands of pagodas. Near everything you “need” to visit in Bagan.
Should come with a warning before booking that rooms towards the river are noisy from around 5 am due to boats. Nevertheless a beautiful place, decent food though I’d recommend eating out if you want to enjoy local food.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Rent an e-scooter there to get around, really convenient!
Amazing place! Beautiful grounds and location right on the river are the best part. Helpful staff with adequate English ability, excellent breakfast. Close to several restaurants and e-bike rental. Rooms need updating, which explains the lower room rates vs nearby hotels, but above features compensate for this.
We have to thank all the staff because they’re incredible and the property is amazing.
Haven said that.
The room was awful, the worst room I’ve been to. It is pricey compared to the other hotels in town, and it is not the hotel fault, it is on Expedia. I tried to contact them and We never could, we had to change hotels, even if we already paid more nights.
This is the last time I trust in Expedia, they’re no objective and they don’t check the properties and if they do, they don’t care about the travelers because if they did they would post some of the photos of the rooms, I have quiet few.
Ok, clean enough, old towels
This is a gorgeous property... more of a garden on the banks of the Irrawaddy than a mere "hotel"... even had two ancient pagodas nestled in among the trees. There was a spacious deck area that was perfect for watching the sun set over the river. My room was comfortable, and somewhat rustic with a wooden sort of decor... I really liked it... the bathroom could use some sprucing up but I am a traveler not a tourist, and I find that sort of thing of little consequence. I highly recommend this property, and I know that I will certainly stay here again.
Good location, great breakfast with stunning view over the river (but be aware that the boats are extremely noisy which kind of spoils the peacefulness of the moment). The hotel itself offers good standard and is well maintained, with the notable exception of the bathrooms which really need to be renovated. It is the main drawback of this hotel and if it wasn't for this I would give it a 10.
Also the towels are out of age and should be replaced urgently - it doesn't cost much!
Amazing location, right next to Gawdawpalin, one of the main temples in Bagan. Lovely grounds and the riverside bar is great for sunset drinks. The room was spacious and bed was comfortable.Sound proofing (as with most hotels in Myanmar) was very poor. The bed was at the furthest point from the door but we could still hear every conversation had at the corridor & room doors being shut. The toilet was by far the worse we came across during our trip. It was small and mould & rust was everywhere, including the showerheads. For the price we paid, I think we expected a slightly higher level of maintenance being given to the toilet. Also, the hotel could try to look into incorporating a more sustainable way of providing drinking water to its guests e.g. leaving glass bottles in rooms and having water dispensers around the property for people to refill their bottles for use.
This hotel staff sometimes kind , but sometims annoying.
And the room is big but no useful. In the room, Wifi is so weak..
And everynight about 8:00pm, a staff is knocking the door and ask “House keeping?” ... i cant understand. They already clean the room in the morning (evenif we’re in the room he asked us 3times with in 2hous, and always we said No”)
This hotel is so wierd... i dont want to sleep again.
WiFi is not very good. More options for breakfast would help. Location is great, right near some temples.
I will start with the positive aspects of my review. I had stayed river front view with balcony and the view is breathtaking. The room I had stayed was 1204, directly below of Presidential Suite 1 and 2. Tourists in Bagan are usually tempted by sunrise tour but if you book the room for full moon or fuller moon nights, please don't do sunrise tour. The moon will set directly across the river which gives you spectacular moon reflection on the famous Irrawaddy river which you can enjoy by simply waking up by 5am and not going out for sunrise sightseeing. I can assure you, you will be amazed the serenity of moon before it setting over the mountains, the other side of the river. The hotel has two authentic, well maintained old pagodas inside the compound which are located next to the breakfast area. Basically you are having breakfast next to ancient pagodas, right in front of the river which is mesmerising.
Now here comes the bad...
Towels are well past the used by date. The blankets and sheets are yellowish. Bathtub and toilet need to be renewed. Breakfast is below average with not much choices.
My verdict,
I'd use the hotel again just for the spectacular of the site but I wish management upgrade the amenities.
The Hotel was in Old Bagan - close to all the temples. Great location and nice view of the river. Staff were friendly and the room was good. Excellent tree cover - so it was cool to walk around the grounds. Pool was good. Breakfasts wer really good.
Resort is a bit tired - needs an update and a bit of a clean in bathroom. Staff excellent - courteous kind helpful
