I visited this hotel for dinner with my four children, as a single mother hoping for a nice start to our summer break – instead, we experienced the most upsetting, discriminatory treatment I have ever received.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cold and hostile. There were unspoken stares, uncomfortable looks, and a clear sense that we were not welcome. The waiter who seated us was blunt, dismissive and rude from the start. When I politely asked if we could move to a corner table because the overhead light was painfully bright for my eye condition, his only response was a sharp, disbelieving “What?”.
While I waited ten minutes for the manager, this same waiter went around every other table greeting guests warmly, asking how they were, but as soon as he passed us he made exaggerated, ugly faces and slammed plates down loudly. Even while I was explaining this to the manager, he continued making these hostile expressions – which the manager actually admitted seeing, saying she would speak to him.
This experience sent my anxiety through the roof. I lost my appetite completely, and my children were left feeling unsettled and upset too. Instead of addressing the problem properly, the manager suggested we move to eat in a separate room – which only made me feel more isolated and singled out. Later, they even offered to refund us and told us we could leave if we weren’t happy, at 8:30pm, with four young children. It is completely unreasonable to suggest I drive four hours home when I was so distressed, or find last-minute accommodation that would have cost three or four times as much – and they offered no support to make that possible. I felt trapped, forced to stay somewhere that made us feel so unwelcome.
I barely slept a wink that night. When I spoke to the manager the next morning, I explained how this had affected my mental health, and that I now felt too unwell to go through with our planned activities or drive safely afterwards. This was meant to be a special break for my family, and we spent a huge amount of money here – only to be met with subtle but unmistakable racism, unkindness, and total disregard for our wellbeing. It wasn’t just one member of staff; the coldness, the shared looks, the silence and difference in how we were treated compared to other guests was clear throughout.
I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated with basic dignity and respect.
From start to finish, Blunsdon House delivered everything we could have hoped for—and more—on our wedding day. The venue itself is stunning: beautifully maintained grounds, elegant interiors, and perfect spaces for both our ceremony and reception. The iconic tree-lined areas and classic architecture made for incredible photos.
The team went above and beyond. Every member of staff was professional, attentive, and genuinely happy to help—nothing was too much trouble. Grace handled all the little details seamlessly, letting us relax and enjoy every moment with our family and friends. The food was delicious, the rooms were spacious and well-appointed, and the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and exactly what we wanted for our special day.
If you’re looking for a place that combines style, service, and reliability for your wedding, this is it. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue to celebrate our marriage. Highly recommended to anyone planning their big day!
pool, sauna, gym were all well equipped
vegan options are poor in this hotel. breakfast was included in our booking so we were looking forward to it. we were surprised that they did not prepare anything extra, they gave us mushrooms, beans and vegan sausages. the vegan sausages were just mash of potatoes mixed with veggies, i recommend the chef to look into proper vegan meat sausage. even the hashbrowns contain eggs, how crazy is that?! we also tried the carrie bar. £18 for a vegetable burger, again the chef could look into something like beyond burger. £18 for meatball pasta with pasta that tasted like cupboard and soft like it had been microwaved. poor non alcoholic drinks, no mocktails available.
Reception of the hotel was nice, pool was pretty good
No ac, very spread out, the shower rooms at the pool could have better facilities (shampoo and conditioner and something to dry the costume.
The Leisure facilities were good.

Nothing really
Pool and leisure activities
Food was amazing
Grounds was beautiful
Rooms were dirty , bed linen was clean
Very dusty and not high standard for price
Hotel had event large group of children say 100 + and was very busy and never thought to tell , was very noisy loud and could not chill or hear self talk
Had a rude duty manager on also
The property was clean
The amount charged per room is not for the room you receive, I would have expected half the price. The view was a roof out the window. The property looks like it hasn’t been touched in 30 years. Everything is an extra charge when you arrive apart from breakfast. They hold an extra £50 on account as soon as you walk through the door. The hotel is open to everyone not just guests, when we tried to sit outside there was a party of women with children, the women were screaming and shouting drunk and the drinks were still flowing even though one had fallen asleep on the table, the children were running around with the drinks in hand and smashed a glass. Not what you expected for the price but paid. There is nothing near the hotel so I had to drive to a restaurant and not drink as it was most awkward at the property with the party who were not even guests.
The welcome the hotel had a quiet ease about it.
The breakfast was poor, no bread assortment & cooked breakfast was a bit tired. Fruit & yogurt was delicious.
Very spacious and quiet location.
Staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and had everything to hand.
