Pros:

Restaurant and service and food were subpar. Way too salty. It was nearly inedible for me (cod with a marinara and gross orzo. Husbands fried cod was really greasy

Cons:

The floor in our room was filthy! After showering, I walked to the bedroom to dress. When I started to put on my socks, the bottom of my feet were black. The new menu in the dining room is out of place for a mountain lodge. Trying too hard to be chic. Get back to comfort food!

The location has a wonderful view, the restaurant is amazing, and the room was cozy. Staff was very friendly and available.

Friendly staff, secluded property, plenty of through-hikers.
Pros:

Excellent evening staff. Bar stayed open late and the conversation with the barman made the trip.

Hiker box for through hikers, reasonable sitting areas to congregate with strangers.

Cons:

Breakfast service, where the exceptional service we’d received all stay started to break down with our orders getting confused or removed too soon.

Didn’t have fire-starting supplies in the room with a fire place. Though we might’ve been able to ask for these and just missed it.

Unequalled value just outside of Ashland.
Pros:

Callahan’s is old school charm in rural acreage. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Our room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The lodge is in a truly lovely setting.

Cons:

They may be planning a renovation. The first place to start is the restaurant. Their pricing, menu offerings and quality are all over the place. It’s an important asset to get right given their location.

The staff was helpful, professional, friendly and just overall amazing.

Cons:

That I checked out the menu on the website and when dinnertime came around I went to order and the menu was completely different. The food i did order was amazing though.
