Nice, great location, stunning roof bar, would not stay again due to the cost
Pros:

Location was great, rooftop bar excellent. Rooms were cosy and well appointed, the pantry is a great touch.

Cons:

In terms of the cost per room per night, the hotel lacks finish and quality, 5 star cost, 3-4 star value

Pleasant, aesthetic & comfortable but a little disappointing!
Pros:

Location, the shower/bathroom facilities & the bed! Very comfortable!

Cons:

Dear GuestHouse No.42 Team,

I wanted to share some feedback following our recent stay.

My partner and I travel frequently and stay in luxury and boutique hotels across the UK and Europe, so we naturally compare experiences against a fairly broad benchmark. Whilst there were aspects of our stay that we genuinely enjoyed, there were also several areas that left us disappointed.

The first was breakfast. As breakfast is advertised until 10:00am, I would expect the same choice and quality to be available throughout the service. Unfortunately, when we arrived later in the breakfast window there were no croissants left and very few continental options remaining. It felt as though breakfast had not been replenished, which is disappointing when guests are actively encouraged to enjoy a later breakfast. If breakfast is offered until 10:00am, there should be sufficient provisions for those choosing to dine closer to that time.

Parking was another frustration. There was no clear information provided during the booking process, meaning I had to research parking myself and send a separate email in the hope of securing a space. I also feel that charging £25 per day for parking is rather excessive, particularly when it is not made clear from the outset.

Similarly, the £30 charge to extend check-out by just one hour (from 11:00am until 12:00pm) felt disproportionate. In many luxury hotels we have visited, a modest late check-out is offered as a goodwill gesture where occupancy allows, or at the very least at a much more reasonable cost. It gave the impression that additional charges were being applied wherever possible.

I was also disappointed with the arrival experience. The only room type available when booking was a standard double room, yet despite arriving at around 1:30pm, we were advised that our room would not be ready until after 3:00pm.

Pros:

Location, vibe, room all lovely. Pantry is such a nice added extra perk. Rooftop bar is lovely too.

Cons:

Price varies depending on the night you stay quite dramatically. I felt like the price for Saturday was expensive and would of wanted to have a sea facing room for the price we paid.

We really enjoyed it.
Pros:

Property is beautiful and really well situated. Both me and my toddler loved the bathroom with a big bathtub and I really appreciated how quiet the room was and the AC. I am a light sleeper and we had an excellent night. It was also so lovely to receive beach toys for the little one on our way out. Breakfast including vegan croissants were delicious and staff was flexible to accommodate allergies.

Cons:

There was no bedding for my toddler in the cot. Have asked a member of staff but haven’t received it. My toddler ended sleeping under a towel. He still had a good night. I think the property and parents would profit from a changing station in the bathrooms.

Cons:

despite numerous attempts to change booking, the hotel refused and hide behind booking.com. booking.com tried to help, when it was clear we couldn’t use 2nd night, we were fobbed off by hotel with no one is in from reservations today (it was a thursday!). Very disappointing and ultimately paid for a night not used, we hotel blaming booking.com. Which was simply un true

Comfy and Beautiful
Pros:

Lovely hotel, with everything you need. We had the room with the balcony over the sea and it was beautiful. Bed was super comfy, the bathroom gorgeous - excellent shower. Drinks on the roof top was a highlight and the restaurant food very good quality.

Cons:

A bit of noise from the room above. We only had breakfast in the hotel once, as it was fine but not that exciting, and there are lots of other places to eat in Margate. None of this would put us off, it was a wonderful stay and we will be trying out the other guesthouses at some point.

A beautiful hotel that I would highly recommend.
Pros:

It was a very welcoming experience from the moment you walk in. The hotel was clean and had beautiful interior that made you feel relaxed. The restaurant and rooftop bar were lovely and offered delicious food and good selection of drinks. The bed was very comfortable and room was very spacious. Private parking on the property was also a huge bonus.

Cons:

I couldn’t fault it.
