Incredibly convenient location to explore York. Staff were so friendly and very accomodating. Room well appointed and comfortable.
Clean, and spacious , food excellent
Nothing
The location was superb, perfect for exploring York and so close to the Minster, room was clean, tidy and comfortable and breakfast was Excellent
Nothing could have been better
Our room, the friendliness of all the staff and location.
Nothing
staff and location were excellent.
bar and restaurant did not really match the location and price
Good location. Willing staff.
Somewhat tired and jaded. Lacks character.Poor value.
Location. The breakfasts was delicious.Staff friendly and helpful.
The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful. It was very convenient for our exploration of York.
Our room .. for 5 nights was one of only a few with twin beds. However it was small and had a standing fan which the cleaner put on high level. We left it on all day and all night, and also had the window open . The window was also already open with a tube going out to clear any steam as far as we were aware and appeared a necessity. Looking back we should have queried all this but I’m not very sure of myself when situations like this occur.
Great location
No nice welcome
Receptionist wearing old jean and smoking outside main entrance - not a good look
Hotel very tired and not as nice as the photos
The staff at the hotel were welcoming and very friendly. They were also very helpful. The room was great and the breakfast was abundant. We couldn't ask for more
To be honest we were very surprised at how lovely the hotel was for the price and they gave us a large room with the minister as a view!
Also, all the staff were lovely and very friendly.
Breakfast was very good, except for the toaster which never toasts the bread enough, but hardly a big problem.

The hotel was comfortable with all amenities needed including a lift and restaurant and the bedroom was spacious with storage for clothes, a grab rail in the spacious shower and a rubber shower mat and the shower was easy to operate. The hotel was right next to York Minster and reminded me of a hotel Miss Marple would stay in.
The room was cold in May with a light doona, however the housekeeper provided an extra blanket when I mentioned it to her, also some extra milk sachets.
Excellent location with valet parking makes this stay a no brainer.
One Member of staff a northern Ireland chap, really helpful and friendly.
The check in experience not so good, met with a somewhat nonchalant aged female who stank of cigarette smoke and poorly turned out wearing jeans & hair not combed it would seem and very very unfriendly. No welcome from her just told with somewhat rudeness that our suite wasnt ready til 3pm which is fine but a little more friendliness required. Our cases then just taken away by another man in jeans again poorly turned out. We have stayed at many 4 star - 5 star hotels and have never experienced the same check in experience as at this hotel. This is four star hotel and you do not expect the front of house staff to be so badly turned out. The hotel is very tired and in need of a deep clean in our opinion. The box trees at the main entrance very very dead by box month and these should be removed as it looks awful. The main reception entrance carpet very dirty and doesn't look like it has seen a hoover in some time. The stated view from The Langley Suite is not as stated as it is now blocked by a very large tree so you can't actually see the Minister. The net curtains in our suite were a disgrace they were torn and discolored which is a shame as could be replaced at a very small cost. There were many stains on the carpets. The bathroom has no opening window and no fan, therefore no ventilation at all. There is the ability to put a fan in as we can see from the external facade of the front of the building the other rooms have fans. We felt for £400 Plus a night this did not live up to the pictures shown on the internet for this hotel. It may have once looked like these pictures on the internet or internet platforms such as Booking.com etc but it definitely does not now. We noted the Grand Hotel during our stay in York and albeit a short walk from the town about 400 yards and over just one of the many bridges it was much more a superior hotel it was very clean and well maintained and around the same cost. Choose wisely fellow travelers.
