Was happy to discover this hotel for location that was walking distance to the hospital and the free parking. The room was decent until I discovered bed bugs on the bed and in the room. Packed up and went to a different hotel. Was able to get a full refund.
The property will not exist by February 9. 2025. It is being renovated to become a wellness center for the University of Iowa students.
conveniently located
It was nice other than someone entering our room with a key after we were in it!
Service was great and a really congenial staff . The ‘good’ rating was not because of dirt….they’re getting ready for construction and repurposing. Seeing all the history and pictures throughout was fun.
Was an awesome location to bring son back to school and stay for the football game. Go Hawkeys!
This was a great hotel at the university and right on the river. It had a great bed and decent breakfast. It will be closing in Feb 25 unfortunately so the university can further expand their space for student needs.
Great location for an Iowa Football game! The rooms are basic but clean.
Loved the fact that it was soo close to the statium. Close to many dinning options! Plus you are staying on the best campus in the world!! Go Hawks...
It was my first Hawkeyes game ever!! Definitely will be going again next year!! And i will definitely be staying here again!!
Rooms need to be refreshed.
Stains on the carpet.
Shower didn’t drain.
Hair in the shower on the wall.
Like the location and being able to walk places.

Great location on the UI campus. Outstanding staff, friendly and helpful! The building is old and the rooms showed it with peeling paint, slight smell, old bedding.
Avoid this place in the winter. The heat is set and can't be changed. The instructions by thermostat say to open the window. Even with window being open and it being 45 degrees out, you will boil in your bed. The bed is loose, worn out and you will leave with back pain. The place is being torn down but avoid, avoid.
The Iowa House is closing soon and it's obvious that there has been reinvestment into the property in quite some time. Everything about the hotel seems to be outdated and is in need for updating or repair -- which obviously isn't going to happen with the hotel closing.
So, with that, the service is excellent and the location is ideal. The $300ish dollars a night seems fair considering market alternatives. Just know that the place is pretty worn down.
Great weekend, nice welcoming treats, room clean but soooo hot! We opened the window and got a fan and it never got cooler than 78 degrees, slept very poorly because of it.
Great student union location for attending university events
Amazing hotel, EXCEPTIONAL ALL AROUND!
Very friendly and convenie t.
It is great for location, staff were very friendly. Rooms are on the small side and a bit dated, but that is easily overlooked with the ease of getting around campus. Sad to hear it is closing.
Nice hotel, but a little out of the mix. There is a lot of construction happening around the property. Once that is done, hopefully, it will feel a little better.
