Appalling customer service
Pros:

I am genuinely appalled by my experience with Hampton by Hilton Oxford.

I needed to cancel a non-prepaid booking five days before arrival due to a bereavement — an unexpected and deeply distressing situation. Rather than showing even the slightest degree of compassion or flexibility, the hotel refused to cancel and demonstrated absolutely no empathy whatsoever.

What followed was even worse. Despite me clearly informing them that I would not be able to travel, they attempted to take payment three separate times. This felt aggressive and unnecessary, especially given the circumstances. Instead of handling the matter professionally, staff were rude and dismissive.

To make matters more shocking, I was threatened with being blocked on Booking.com simply for raising the issue. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and completely unprofessional.

This experience was entirely at odds with what I would expect from the Hilton brand. There was no compassion, no understanding, and no willingness to resolve the matter reasonably. During a time of personal grief, I was met with hostility rather than basic human decency.

I would strongly caution others before booking here. If something unexpected happens in your life, do not expect empathy or fair treatment from this hotel

Pros:

Very comfortable and well designed hotel at a budget price. Breakfast included, good buffet. EV charging points round the back. Very handy for buses into Oxford from the Stadium.

Cons:

Pillows were a little too hard for me, but a matter of preference I suppose.

Prima ligging. Het was er netjes en het personeel was erg vriendelijk.

Cons:

Het matras van de slaapkamer🙈. Dat is een persoonlijke smaak. Ik vond het aan de harde kant.

A nice little stay
Pros:

The room was good for what we needed, although a little cramped with the sofa bed out and 3 of us in there. However, as its only used for a base, this was not a huge problem.
The breakfast selection was brilliant.
Perfect location for going to the football, with great things pretty much on site for the little one too. And not too far from the park and ride for a trip into Oxford.
