It was a lovely place, staff were very helpful but unfortunately I couldn't sleep because of the banging then the drilling from the workmen doing the renovation.

For my old bones, this is a splurge but worth it during long layovers
Pros:

1. Location! Location! Location!
If you're flying into or departing from Terminal 1 with a bit of waiting time and prefer to not exit and deal with immigration, can't really beat this hotel's location. Right above gate 41, it's easy to find, offering a slice of outdoor (via its pool/lounge area) and warmth in an otherwise (and mostly) freezing airport.

2. A short reprieve and shower
If your layover is just a few hours and you need to refreshen up, the hourly availability and shower service are great, subject to availability of course. I booked a room for 12 hours this time, but have also stayed for less than six in the past. I think travelers may not know you can even just pay for a shower and hang out at its lounge area.

3. Instant coffee/tea in room
Always a nice treat after a long-haul flight and right before being able to lie down horizontally again.

Cons:

1. Reservation often means you still have to wait
During every stay, I've had to wait for my room. During this last trip, my 6:30p, reservation wasn't available until 8pm. I think it requires strict time-management (what can be made available between reservations) and cleaning schedule which the inexperienced staff/junior team may not be up to. This is purely my observation and not meant to shade anyone.

2. Too many variables for staff to keep track of
Even though my room was only available almost two hours past the reservation, I still got a call at 6:30am the next day to say I was due for check-out. When I explained myself, the staff immediately confirmed how I'd have the room until 8am. When I was checking in, there were other patrons who either didn't have their boarding pass for the next flight or needed their luggage, etc. There was much confusion, even though a lot of this information was already on the hotel's website and email correspondence prior to arriving. Staff also needs to verify incoming flight info, scan passport, etc. Just a lot going on, which is understandable for recordkeeping and security purposes, but still— a lot to manage.

3. Shower didn't quite warm up
This has been the case every time I've stayed here. I just tell myself it's better than not being able to shower at all.
