Lovely grounds and near to where I needed to be.
If I’m honest the bedroom (single) I was in needed a bit of TLC apart from that all was good
We visited the Country Kitchen for a Sunday Carvery. The staff were great especially the chef who was very friendly. The portions were extremely generous with great quality meat. There was also an amazing selection for the starters and desserts
We have stayed here twice now and on both occasions we have received amazing service. The atmosphere is relaxed, there are plenty of staff around who are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The hotel is located next to a golf course with a lovely garden seating area. Our room was large with all the amenities you could want. The restaurant has a traditional feel with wood panelling and the food was excellent with lots of choice and again great service from the staff. I would definitely recommend a visit for a short break.
Location
Very poor value for money. No air conditioning! Room outdated. Minute shower.
Nothing
The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in over fifty years of travel. The shower was so small it was almost impossible to turn around. In terms of value for money it could be described as a "rip-off"
Lovely breakfast and eve meal
My room had no view so asked to be moved
My wife and I had afternoon tea in the Oak Room. It was a very pleasant experience, and we were well looked after. Recommended
Booked the Spa & Afternoon tea package. Visited a few years back and they have made some nice improvements......new lockers, along with a refurbishment for powder room and pool. Really enjoyed our visit, felt really looked after by the staff. Special thanks to Matt the hotel manager and the lady behind reception Henriette, they both really looked after us.
We appreciated the spacious room, which despite no a/c in the heatwave was relatively cool, it was well equipped and had a very comfortable bed. We had a small issue with a queue for breakfast when we needed to get to work but this was resolved effectively by the staff who were all very helpful.
Overall we found the staff all positive and solution-focused, helped make it a good stay.
Nothing
Our Group of Senior citizens thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and carvery on Sunday 28th June. The staff were very attentive and most pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and were alway on hand to assist us.
The room was ok and the breakfast service staff were excellent
On a very hot day the airconditiong could have been put on for our arrival so the room temperature was not so unbearable.
Location
Bathroom not clean, needed two attempts to reach satisfactory level.
I am getting so used to writing poor reviews of this hotel these days and it is such a shame. So here goes just arrived and too early for room and have been told and I quote “you cannot use the spa until you are checked in on the grounds of health and safety”. Yet, having just checked with the spa as long as we pay £15 each surprise, surprise we can get in. So moral to you all, don’t come early unless you are prepared to shell out more money.
A dreadful spa experience – this is not a spa.
On arrival, we were given threadbare robes and then discovered that the steam room wasn’t working. We were never informed of this when booking over the phone or upon arrival, despite it being a key facility.
The sauna is tiny and was constantly overcrowded, making it impossible to use. There were also nowhere near enough loungers for guests.
From around 3pm onwards, the pool area was invaded by screaming children from the hotel, completely destroying any chance of relaxation. Again, this was never mentioned when we booked.
Our afternoon tea consisted of a dry piece of cake served in a room that felt more like a 1970s staff canteen than a spa lounge.
The whole experience was a comedy of errors. To make matters worse, I emailed the manager afterwards and received an ignorant response, with no meaningful attempt to resolve the complaint or offer compensation.
Avoid this spa experience like the plague.
