Breakfast Assistant was quite Sullen and Rude. She was the only one there though so was super busy! Not her fault....bad management!
Lovely big room and bathroom. Staff were excellent - polite, friendly and helpful.
The toilet seat in the room was very wobbly and needs looking at. The pressure of the shower wasn't particularly good.
The hotel including bedroom appear to have been recently refurbished and was lovely inside. There is scaffolding erected which is there for roof replacement. The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable. I didn't find the pillows comfortable but my husband didn't have a problem with them. Both our meals at dinner were enjoyable, lasagne and chicken, leek and ham pie. The Lion breakfast was lovely and it was very nice to have a served breakfast rather than buffet style. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. We were travelling from Canterbury to Newcastle and it wasn't too far from the A1 for an overnight stay. We visited Clumber Park which is about 4 miles away. Well worth a visit.

A well maintained interior, the out at this time of revising in the process of being renovated.
The family room was lovely and clean with plenty of space. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and even though we arrived late in the evening the staff were so kind to make sure we managed to have a meal before the restaurant closed. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was very nice. The menu choice was great and the food was lovely. The next morning the breakfast was also lovely and nicely presented.
As it was dark the hotel was difficult to find as lots of scaffolding covering the front. But work has to be done so it wasn’t a problem once we found it.
