Very clean and friendly. Excellent evening meal and breakfast.
Great place to stay with terrace and great view. Breakfast made to order 👌 Menu & dinner spot on.
Thank you
Brilliant location and all staff were helpful and friendly. Good parking outside. Restaurant dinner was excellent. Hotel felt comfortable and relaxing with good facilities and fabulous views of the Solent
It’s ok, needs updating. Most staff friendly, only let down by a couple.
Room with sea view… only just!, over looking ugly roof.
Food mediocre but hot.
Probably wouldn’t recommend unless updated.
The room was very spacious with comfortable beds and a good shower and the area was quiet at night. The choice of breakfasts was excellent and the view from the restaurant was an added bonus.
Hotel is in a stunning location with an uninterrupted view of the Solent. Bedroom very good with sea view. Both dinner and breakfast excellent.
I sent the email copied below to the hotel but the hotel did not have the courtesy to reply. Draw your own conclusions from this.
To the manager /owner
Thank you for the comfortable stay we enjoyed with you recently. We had a lovely room and very much enjoyed the food on the two nights we dined in.
I do believe in giving feedback where I believe a hotel could benefit from it and improve on its customer service.
The one downside to our stay was the inability on our second evening to procure a glass of appropriately chilled Sauvignon Blanc. I told the fellow who served it that I was not happy with the glass of wine at room temperature and he removed it, only to reappear with a glass of wine at the same temperature in a glass that had probably been run under the tap as it was wet. He seemed to find it amusing and appeared to smirk when I said it was no better. I resorted to asking for some ice to put in it. After this, rather than risk a repeat of the experience, my party of eight chose to buy our drinks in the evening elsewhere. Everywhere we went to in Cowes served white wine well chilled and without needing to be asked.
My husband also found it a little disconcerting to be served the cooked part of his breakfast before he had finished his cereal etc.
Lovely stay and even with the brief and limited time, you picked up the genuine warm welcome from check in to check out. Very pleasant young lady on reception .
Lovely staff in the restaurant and a great breakfast and pleasant evening meal.
The bonus of a room with a partial sea view , comfortable and with everything you needed. Felt safe and secure as a solo traveler.
Clearly some redecoration / refurbishment as the smell of new paint was still present.
And did I mention the sea view across the sea view across the Solent to Southampton . Always something to see and watch . Lovely walk way along the promenade into Cowes. Would recommend .
Very nice breakfast. Only complaint was that the shower in my room didn't have any hot water coming out of it.
Just had afternoon tea overlooking the Solent. The sandwiches etc. were excellent. Very good mixture of fillings. Tasty scones with clotted cream. Varied number of cakes. Highly recommended. Plenty of parking and the views are stunning.
Friendly and helpful receptionist. Very professional approach by not shouting out the room number but just giving the key cards - excellent. Dinner was also excellent with good service. Room very comfortable. Not much of a view but no complaints.
Stayed previously.
Nice/friendly hotel.
Staff were very professional and helpful, especially Debbie.
Good location.
Our room was good and the location of the hotel right on the seafront was great.
We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks on their outside terrace, enjoying the unseasonable weather and watching the boats, large and small, on the sea.
The receptionist was very friendly and efficient, as we're the bar staff.
When booking, I'd said that we'd be celebrating our anniversary. It was a lovely touch to find an anniversary card waiting for us in our room.
We dined in the restaurant in the evening. The meal overall was good. However, my dessert should have been served with salted caramel ice cream. It came out with coffee ice cream instead, which I can't stand! There was no waiter in sight, so I had to go to the receptionist, for her to find the waiter. On checking in the kitchen, he reported that they'd run out of salted caramel ice cream and so the chef in his wisdom just decided to use coffee ice cream instead! What he should have done was to inform me and let me chose an alternative flavour, rather than decide on my behalf, without telling me! Rant over! The rest of our meals, including breakfast the next morning, were good.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is kept clean and tidy, the staff is excellent and friendly. The property offers a quiet location to visit neighbourhoods and main attractions nearby.
Fantastic one night away . Very chilled and relaxed. Excellent food and service. Spotless well equipped room with all we needed. Cheerful , attentive staff . Great views and location .
We stayed for our Anniversary and a card from the hotel was left I our room, very kind thought. Thankyou.
I have stayed at New Holmwood for 4 years and will be booking for next year. I am usually a solo guest with my dog and always have a lovely stay. Excellent food, good helpful friendly service nothing is too much trouble. Views from hotel balcony are of the Solent, so something always going on. Quite area and no problem parking.
Beautiful location, easy parking, excellent restaurant and bar. All staff were pleasant and very helpful. 10/10
We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at the New Holmwood. The hotel is in a perfect position with great views up to Southampton and all the shipping passing by. We would have liked a sea view room but sadly none of these have walk-in showers which we prefer. We had room 1 at the back of the hotel which has a walk-in shower but no view.
The food is very good and there is plenty of choice on the menu both for dinner and breakfast. The staff are all excellent and the hotel is very clean.
I would strongly recommend booking direct with the hotel. We booked a dinner bed and breakfast package including ferry and it was truly excellent value for money.
Yet another relaxing lovely stay in our favourite Room 11. The hotel holds wonderful memories for us, birthday celebrations, our Covid wedding night, and our beautiful wedding blessing and reception, postponed through Covid. David and Cathy (now retired) have left the hotel in the very capable hands of Manager Julian, and Restaurant Manager James. Our room, as always, spotless, cosy with plenty of tea and coffee for us (so many hotels give you one teabag)! Food is wonderful. We had calamari, chicken and seabass, all cooked to perfection. Because of the peaceful ambience of the hotel a guest cannot help but relax and go home well fed and watered. The views over the Solent from the large terrace are to die for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend New Holmwood to anyone visiting, or local, to the Isle of Wight
