Convenient location but has seen better days.
Pros:

The room was comfortable, quiet and clean with good WiFi and TV. Staff were courteous and helpful. The bar was comfortable with a good selection of beers on tap and a passable house red.

Cons:

Dinner was distinctly average and overpriced for what was served. I've had better chicken curries out of a tin. It was a shame that the nearby Hop Pole Inn was closed on Mondays. Breakfast was OK but served in a room so drab and unwelcoming as to make it a less than happy experience. It had all the ambience of a rather down at heel retirement home.

Pros:

Beautiful building great location, good parking, nice bar.

Cons:

Room was OK but the bathroom was very dated. Who has still two taps in a sink and shower??? Window was difficult to open, very stiff.

Value for money, in an ideal location
Pros:

Great location. The Hop pole inn (top rated pub) is very close and the food was excellent. Gentleman on reception was so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was just ok.

Cons:

The shower was absolutely awful. Thankfully we were off to Bath spa so could use the shower there instead.

Pros:

It was very convenient for a weekend spent mainly at the University of Bath sports centre.

Cons:

The building itself while quaint felt as though it may need some structural work on the upper floors including floor boards.

A great location just outside Bath
Pros:

A hotel full of character situated in a stunning spot overlooking a valley down to the river. I believe it was originally built for visitors to bath

I made a quick overnight visit on my way to Bristol, the hotel is situated very conveniently for both Bristol and Bath, not far from a park and ride to take you into Bath and about 30/40 mins from Bristol park and ride. So a very convenient location.

The downstairs areas are really well presented, especially the bar area, with a real fire and views over the valley. Bar Food was actually really good and quick service.

I would have given 5 stars but my room was dated, actually wouldn’t take much to bring it up to today’s standards. The room was really clean and the WiFi was fast and free.

One other thing I’d like to say is every member of staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful, that makes a massive difference.

I would return, perhaps in a more expensive room with the hope it would be more modern, but for a quick, cheap overnight stay it was much better than a travelodge.

Return visit to Limpley Stoke
Pros:

Our second visit. I love the setting overlooking a beautiful little valley. Superb in the early morning light.. The room was a good size. The receptionist was very welcoming. The breakfast was plentiful with sufficient variety. Would recommend to anyone wanting to escape the difficulty of parking in Bath. Parking at the property makes life with luggage much easier.

Cons:

The shower was pretty awful. Obviously the mixer tap isn't working. Doesn't allow for sufficient hot water to come through. Room 39.

Comfortable in a beautiful location
Pros:

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the river valley. Our room was comfortable, we enjoyed a good breakfast and the staff were very friendly. In spite of there being a wedding reception at the hotel we weren't disturbed at all.

Cons:

The hotel itself is very old and careworn and in need of some repair. Although this didn't bother us particularly, I think it would have been off-putting to some. It could probably be described as characterful!
