I love this location. 500 year old ted sandstone building with crenellations and loads of wood panelling
The walk the the village is just a tad too long if you want to venture out.
Beautiful historic property. Ideal stopping off point for the night on our way to Scotland. Handy for Dalson village and only 10 minute drive into Carlisle. Nice breakfast and evening meal. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Very user friendly
Nothing
Lovely, beautiful old hall, original everything, so beautifully kept. Loved the staff. Tucki is an exceptional host.
That we had to leave.
Literally everything. Couldn’t fault it
It was quirky but very quiet and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Really great value as B&B cost less than nearby Travelodges and Premier Inns.
Nothing. It was great value.
Friendly staff, large room and comfy bed. Quiet area so had one of the best sleeps I’ve had this year.
No phone signal at all and poor WiFi.
Staff very friendly and accommodating
The drink prices were expensive
Lovely old building and grounds. Friendly staff and got a free upgrade in room, which was really spacious and comfy.
I feel bad writing anything negative, but for use constructively it sells itself as a wedding venue rather than a hotel and it kind of comes across that way. When we went for breakfast there wasn’t a set table ready for us, I had to point out there was no eggs or coffee left and when the coffee came i had to ask for cups. The breakfast itself when all there was really good (full English) but I don’t like pre done toast sitting on a hot plate I want to toast it fresh myself. There was no continental option only cereal or yogurt and sauce in little plastic sachets kind of cheapens the vibe.
And can you make breakfast available a little later at the weekend.
Location of the house/castle.... It was realy a castle ! We were surprised it was ... instead of a large house
Nothing, or it must be the looking waiting for warm water in the shower
The food was very tasty
The same person was doing reception and restaurant service simultaneously and unfortunately this had an impact on the speed of response to requests during dinner.
The customer care on the phone when I phoned to advise I would be checking in late, the friendliness of the night porter, the gardens and the castle. The room I stayed in was an upgrade from what I booked, the view was amazing.
The stark bedroom lighting and decor. The price paid vs the 'luxury feel' - I was in a £ 300-per-night room, but it was lacking. The breakfast was the weakest element of my stay. The food was great when it finally arrived, but the staff were under-resourced. Disappointing selection at the buffet, for the money paid. The staff were very friendly, which helped, but when I arrived, there were no tables to sit at - all had been used and not cleared down. Also somewhat strange to sit in a wedding environment with tables set for a function in the breakfast room. I almost sat at one of the tables for 10, rather than a table for 1
Very nice hotel
It’s a nice old hotel with wonderful old features with lots of character. The rooms are nice and large
The bedroom lamps not working and only 1 working socket which used the kettle that was need for medical equipment. The cups in the room were very small. Not many seats in the hotel to sit down and relax. Breakfast was a not great staff seemed to be missing and when about did not engage with customers, toast was low key cardboard things know it was made the day before. Was very disappointed put me on ff from ordering a meal at night.
Staff , room , history, atmosphere
Breakfast was lovely, however sausage was not cooked very pale and tasted so.
The rest was great
