The food was fantastic and not your usual fare. Staff were very friendly and helpful for walkers, including having a much needed drying room. Top notch stay.

We don’t usually eat two courses at Dinner and not having that choice was a bit frustrating. £30 dog charge was quite steep!

Brilliant location for walking. It’s a peaceful place to stay. Staff are very attentive but not intrusive so it creates a comfortable and relaxing environment.

Pros:

Beautiful decor. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Dinner and breakfast were lovely. Appreciated the complimentary tea and coffee. Drying room was a godsend given the weather

We chose this hotel for its location at the end of the Borrowdale valley
Pros:

Beautiful location with walls direct from front door. Excellent breakfast. Very willing staff.

Cons:

No TV. Dinner good was overly clever. Room servicing was erratic.

Fantastic location especially for walkers, warm comfortable, good food, and if you have wet walking gear they have a dry
Pros:

Location good, food excellent, staff good, and rooms very nice.

Cons:

I wanted a clean hand towel change, so in the morning I left it in the shower and the bath towel and shower mat on the towel rail, but on return in the evening the hand towel was still in the shower wet and not changed.
Also the tea bags used were not replenished, and there was no complementary water in the room which seems the normal nowadays. Only little things which didn’t spoil our stay, but could easily have been done.
