the owner (I'm guess she was the owner) was stuck up and rude.
Pros:

when I arrived, off the night bus and exhausted. all i got was a dirty look up and down and been told to get out. she didn't ask for my reservation or anything. she also would not help me find somewhere else to stay, so I was walking around at 3 am to 5 am trying to find a hostel that was open to check in. very rude. and for no good reason. Her naibour opposite however was a sweetheart and did her best to try and help even though we couldn't communicate that well together. Really not worth bothering with this place. There are some lovely places and people in Luang Prabang this clearly is not one of those places.

Einfaches Hotel.
Pros:

Good basic hotel
Pros:

This is a perfectly fine hotel in Luang Prabang. It's centrally located and an easy walk from the temples, river and night market. The room I had was reasonably sized and clean. The bed was comfortable. There are power points which take US or European plug types. I did get a rather alarming flash from one plug when I tried to use the kettle so didn't risk that again. There is decent air conditioning. The bathroom is simple, in a wetroom style, with a strong shower and reliable hot water.

The breakfast is cooked fresh - you choose from a basic menu. There's also tea and coffee available. The staff are friendly and kind although don't all have much English.

Whilst not luxurious, this is a good basic hotel and good value for money. If you want something fancier, then go ahead and pay for it, but if you are happy to have somewhere clean, safe and comfortable to sleep and wash then this will do the job just fine.

Basic, not special but friendly
Pros:

It seems that it was so late in the season that I may have been the only guest there. Staff were very friendly; most of them spoke little or no English. Location is 'good enough'. Room was fine, shower waas good. Wifi mostly not in the room but 2nd floor lobby with couches and fan was fine as alternative.

Basic and uninspiring
Pros:

Basic, functional hotel. Quite noisy from the street. The room had a safe.
The pillow was badly stained, but the cover clean. The staff did replace the pillows when asked. The shower was good with high pressure and plenty of hot water. The toilet flush was useless.

Breakfast was eaten outside at the back of the hotel overlooking a run down small public park with lake. Basic breakfast was provided. Banana, bread, bacon and egg cooked to order. Tea and coffee.

We didn't feel that the hotel took security seriously. All room keys were left on the reception desk which was open to the street. On the first day we arrived back on two occasions and no one was at reception, so we picked up our own key. We had moved our key behind reception desk on one occasion, but came back to find it on the front desk for all to access. The following days we took our key with us, but that did mean that our room was not cleaned, as was the case with some of our fellow travellers.

If you're looking for a backpacking style hotel this is probably OK, but I have been to better back packers hostels.

No charm - Not a great location- Very basic
Pros:

Look for another hotel. There are so many charming guesthouses and hotels in Luang Prabang. The hotel needs a huge facelift. The bathroom doesn't have an enclosed shower and you have to really be careful not to wet everything. Location is central but in an area that has no interest. No wifi in the room. You have to go to the lobby which has one couch and a TV with opening on the street.

I'm too old for this...
Pros:

A cell with music and pleasant wardens. Rooms are very spartan and small. They are overly furnished. My room was close to the street so I could hear music from the neighboring clubs. AC is musty and makes a lot of noise. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean - but the pillows were surprisingly hard. Electricity requires an adapter, unlike most Lao hotels. The sockets were under the desk so I had to get on my hands and knees to charge my phone. There are so many nicer places to stay in Luang Prabang. I wish I had chosen somewhere else.

Average and good value
Pros:

When staying in Laos always consider whwre you are and even a modest hotel is good value for money.
I stayed in a large double (206) tv fridge safe etc all fine. 3 towels (1 for each night of my stay ).

The sound carries along the stone corridors and between rooms.

English is not well.spooen here so be prepared to speak some Laos.

For all travel in Laos bring your own toiletries and ear plugs.

Where it's always 11 past 7
Pros:

The clock in reception seems to be permanently stopped at 11 past 7 and there are times when it can appear as if time has stood still here. Service is sleepy, but things get done, and breakfast is an ad hoc affair. That said, the rooms are spacious and the wooden interior means the place feels clean. There's a fridge (turned off, so might be smelly if the door is shut), air con and a safe, as well as wi-fi - best accessed in the spacious lounge area. Perfectly adequate for a 2/3 day stay, a ten minute walk from the main market and 15-20 minutes to the main temple complex.

Did not honor booking and poor help to solve the problem
Pros:

We booked a room on the internet during the Chinese new year period. When we arrived, the person at the desk said that they had "no rooms", and therefore none for us, while the booking was confirmed on the booking.com website. He said that he could not honor our booking because the internet at the hotel was not working, which was hard to believe because we were able to access the wifi in the lobby...

After the refusal, we asked him if he could redirect us to another hotel. He offered to call a friend but we were not able to understand each other in English, and he was unable to show us the location of his guesthouse and the other guesthouse on a Luang Prabang map. We had to beg the hotel next door to call someone for us, which they did, and found us a room in 10 minutes.

Maybe an isolated case considering that it happened during Chinese new year, but still a very bad experience.

Overbooked, did not honor booking
Pros:

This hotel did not honor a booking from booking.com as they had overbooked.

The chap at reception asked me to cancel the booking on booking.com which I refused to as I I would have been charged the cancellation fee.

Anyways booking.com cancelled it a few days later for free but it did mean I had to spend a morning looking for somewhere else to stay, not an easy thing during the Chinese new year

Pleasant quiet stay
Pros:

Stayed at this place for 3 nights on a tour group (of 3 people). The staff were friendly, although a little reserved. Breakfast was meagre - not much choice, but adequate. Didn't see many other guests so perhaps not a lot of breakfast food provided. Otherwise, it was a pleasant place to stay and not badly situated - only a short walk to the centre.

A little walk into town...
Pros:

Bring insect repellent! the hotel is right next to a lake area (mosquito breeding ground! and you have breakfast less than 5 feet from the waters edge!).

But that is the only negative really. as long as you are wearing repellent, you will have a great time. rooms not spacious, but not small, well decorated (for Laos) and full of substantial furniture. the wifi works well in communal areas, not so well in rooms.

Staff are friendly and helpful and will give you advice on where to go to eat. For breakfast, i used Joma Cafe rather than the hotel but that's just me, my friends said they enjoyed the omelettes and coffee.

Good hotel
Pros:

I stayed at this hotel while on a tour so I can’t comment on the price or value. The room I had was good (room 204), with a large bed (very firm), a wardrobe, a large flat-screen TV (not used) and a couple of chairs. Lighting was good. There was plenty of hot water. Unfortunately, the shower floods the whole bathroom. Air conditioning was available but was not used, as the weather was cool. There was no heat in the room but it didn’t get too cool and there was adequate bedding. Fast wifi is available free of charge, but probably doesn’t get to all the rooms; otherwise you can use it in the common area near the router on the second floor. Breakfast was cooked-to-order eggs or an omelet with toast. Some noise from the street but away from loud clubs, restaurants, etc. About a 15-minute walk to the old town area (2 ½ long blocks).

I would have preferred to stay closer to town
Pros:

The hotel is fine, nice bed. The wifi reaches some rooms. Breakfast was fine, nothing special. I just felt it was a bit out of things, and I prefer to be closer. You do get a bit more sense of the town by walking out there. The people were helpful with light bulbs and laundry.

Great Location in Luang Prabang
Pros:

More of a hotel than a guesthouse, spacious well furnished rooms, en suite, AC and fridges, TV's in all rooms, Wi fi available free of charge but had to use in communal area as unable to use in room. However, room was not cleaned thoroughly on arrival, sink in en suite was stained with toothpaste . Also room had a bad drain smell ( room 107 on ground floor) and despite running the water and blasting the AC the smell was still bad. The room although having two windows these look out onto a high brick wall which is only a few feet away so room was very dark and had to use electric light. We mentioned the bad drain smell it to staff and we were moved to a different room on the 1st floor - this rooms was fine, bright and airy and no smells. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace every morning and all staff so very accommodating.

Loved this place
Pros:

We stayed in 2 different guesthouses before we found this one. Both had problems with cleaning and staff. We had no problems on both counts here. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. The rooms are more hotel than guesthouse with daily cleaning and everything you need- AC, TV, fridge and ensuite bathroom with plenty of hot water and even a shower curtain (very rare in Asia). The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is really quiet. Free WiFi- not good in all rooms but there are sofas next to the router. Our AC packed up one night and the staff couldn't fix it so moved us to another room. We were getting the night bus out of luang probang and were able to stay in our room until 6 for a small fee (most places charge full room rate). Alternatively they allow you to stay in the communal area and have a shower before you leave. We checked out a lot of accomodation in LP and this place beat them all.

Enjoyed my stay
Pros:

I think the guesthouse has a great location. It's two long blocks (5-10 minutes walk) from the main attractions (market, temples, cafes) and busy roads. It's far enough that your sleep isn't bother by loud and busy activities. The room is spacious with air condition, wi-fi, clean, and the bathroom is nice. I spent four nights at Villa Kiengkham and I didn't find anything wrong with it. The staff are really nice and helpful by telling where to go and what to do. I would highly stay here again if I ever visit Luang Prabang again. Restaurants are located in every direction and there is a diversity of different kind if you're not feeling up for Lao food.

very pleasant small hotel
Pros:

We stayed 3 nights here and is was a good base for seeing Luang Prabang.Room was large, with heavy dark furniture typical of Laos and an adequate shower room. No view but breakfast served in the garden by LOVELY staff.Night market about 5 minutes away and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
