Beautiful building
Pros:

It was a beautiful looking building, although the entrance is the less impressive view.
The breakfast area was stunning and the breakfast options were really great.
Good facilities with regards to the included use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna too.

Cons:

The decor felt a little tired in places and in need of a refresh. The room was spacious but needed a repaint in places.

The location was lovely but I would not stay at this old hotel again unless it was refurbished
Pros:

I loved the picturesque location

Cons:

1. Had to ask for 2 additional keys for our triple room. 2. My bath towel had a hole in it. 3. The room lighting was dim when it worked. 4. The sofas around hotel were old & worn. 5. Reception staff were unhelpful. 6. Cob webs in the ramble wood inn made me feel uncomfortable when eating my dinner.

Negative Experience
Pros:

Not very much!

⭐☆☆☆☆

We chose this hotel for the final night of our honeymoon and, sadly, it turned out to be a very disappointing experience.

From the moment we arrived for breakfast, things seemed to go wrong. Our table had not been laid despite arriving at 9.45am, and we ended up having to go into the kitchen ourselves to find cutlery. By the time we were able to start eating, much of the food was cold. To make matters worse, the vegetarian sausage did not arrive until after we had already finished breakfast. We also had to ask twice for coffee, there were no pastries available, and staff were clearing away around us throughout the meal, making it feel rushed and far from the relaxing breakfast experience we had expected.

Unfortunately, dinner was no better. There was no ice bucket available for our bottle of wine, my husband's vodka and Coke was forgotten, and our meals arrived before our drinks. When we were finally ready to leave, we then faced a lengthy wait just to receive the bill.

The accommodation itself was equally disappointing. The doors throughout the accommodation block were constantly banging throughout the night, making sleep virtually impossible. It appeared that the door closers were not working correctly. My husband raised this with reception and was told that staff were already aware of the issue. The receptionist explained that she had previously asked guests to close the doors manually but had been instructed by management to stop doing so. Despite the problem being known, nothing appeared to have been done to resolve it, and the disturbance continued all night.

We understand that occasional issues can occur, but the sheer number of problems during a one-night stay was unacceptable. What made it particularly upsetting was that this was the final night of our honeymoon. Instead of ending a wonderful trip feeling relaxed and special, we spent much of the stay chasing basic service and dealing with avoidable disruptions.

Nice old building but could have a bit of an overhaul inside
Pros:

The building from a distant looked amazing, our room size was great and the free parking.

Cons:

The interior of the building could do with an overhaul the carpet is worn and fraying in places. The carpet in our room had some stains. The tap in the bathroom wouldn’t turn off.
The staff were proficient in their jobs but were not engaging at all

We both loved it.❤️ Thank You
Pros:

The quality of the King Sized Four Poster Bedded room. The location in the hotel with really enormous windows over looking the lovely view of the grounds.
The staff were excellent and very friendly and extremely helpful. The Breakfast and staff in the restaurant were very pleasant It was so relaxing even for a one night stay. The fantastic country park opposite the entrance presented us with a very relaxing time as well as the Great Red Trees a step outside the grounds. We had lovely walks 10K on arrival day/ and 10K on the departure day.
With the City only less than 3K from the City a fantastic location.

Cons:

Nothing, it just felt so relaxing, really impressed the both of us.

Overall good
Pros:

It was in a great location for Burghley

Cons:

The fire alarm kept going off if I showered and dried my hair. There’s nothing worse than explaining I did these two terrible things in my underwear to a strange man at my door.
