Probably wouldn’t stay there again
Pros:

The room was very nice and comfortable

Cons:

There wasn’t anyone there - luckily another guest told us that we had to go to another property to get the keys. Then the woman at the other property wanted us to wait for another colleague to arrive, but I had my elderly parents waiting in a car after attending a funeral. It wasn’t well organised at the hotel.
Sink didn’t drain well
Shower took a very long time to produce hot water in the evening
Bedside lights took some figuring out - they need two switches in the right positions in order to turn on.
The TV in my parents room wouldn’t turn on, I rang for help and they suggested a fix that worked, but they hung up on me before checking that it had actually worked.
Short staffed and stressed. For the money it was disappointing

A very convenient location in a beautiful village.

We enjoyed a much needed break during a 400 round trip journey from Herefordshire
Pros:

Good service and excellent smoked salmon and scrambled egg for breakfast

Cons:

No one available at reception at Tollgate to greet us on arrival !
We were not told that we would have to go to the Castle Hotel for our food when we booked

Nice hotel, great location. Will be better once the renovation is complete and the restaurant is open.
Pros:

Location is great, lovely little village with nice walks. Sister hotel is the castle which is fab, we went there fore breakfast. The staff were very lovely. We went to a wedding reception at the castle and it was great. We also had lunch there which was very nice.

Cons:

No reception at the property at the moment due to renovation, we had to go up the road to the castle. There wasn’t enough notice at the hotel, only 1 on 1 door. Nothing on the door that says reception which is where we looked first. The bedroom was dates but adequate.

Pros:

The hotel was, in effect, closed for a major refurbishment but we had a room in one of the blocks but had to use a local pub for meals etc.

The room was beautifully appointed and very clean and comfortable.

Cons:

The downsides of the room is that the water was not very hot and thr toilet flush was poor.

Also the television woukd only receive BBC channelsc1 & 2 and ITV.

Not what I recognise as a hotel.
Pros:

Cons:

Hotel is shut up and a being refurbished. Accommodation is opposite at Westgate which has a small notice saying go down road to Castle Inn Hotel to book in.
Advert says room is 'air conditioning'. Not correct only a fan supplied.
Cold water tap gave only luke warm, so concerned not potable. Requested and given a bottle of drinking water. Not until the third day did the water temperature improved.

Avoid - for now.
Pros:

Comfortable spacious room. Good food, all fresh. Helpful staff lady called Carrie (?).
The property has great potential and will no doubt be good, in time. However, its current situation detracted from the experience.

Cons:

Staying in a building site, complete with scaffolding, whilst the old hotel undergoes renovation. Poor signage. Having to walk several hundred yards to sister hotel for all food and drink.
Teething troubles with room, which were sorted after two days.
