Pros:

Staying and eating out in Ichinose
Pros:

Close to the lifts and located in Ichinose where there are a few restaurants to choose from.

Cons:

Needed to book restaurants well in advance some days, although it's hard to predict when they'll be busy or when they might be closed.

Basic room but comfortable, meals were nice, very close to the ski runs basically ski out of the hotel. Reminder no bathroom in room just the onsen downstairs but clean and easy to use.

Great Place to Stay in Shiga Kogen
Pros:

Big room, beautiful onsen, ski in ski out, close to multiple food options, great set up for ski gear, both in the room and outside the room. Would definately stay here again.

Cons:

No bidet toilet in the room, but one down the hall. No refrigerator.

Showing its age but in a great location.
Pros:

Great location, walk 100m and put your skis on.

Cons:

We had a basic Japanese room with tatami mats and futons which is fine. But we opted to use the share toilets so as not to offend anyone else in the room. No bathroom so we had to use the Onsen.

Great value, nearly ski in/ski out.
Pros:

Excellent, friendly staff with pretty good English. Nice dry room for equipment, almost ski in ski out. Best choice of restaurants in the area. Loved the main onsen bath.

Cons:

Many meals were served cold. I realize that is a Japanese style, but the western dishes could be much improved by heating.

Super convenient and friendly hotel
Pros:

The hotel is so conveniently located, less than a minutes walk to the end of the road and you are skiing down to the Ichinose Family / Ichinose Diamond ski areas. The grand bath was a relaxing way to end the day. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Parking was available for our hire car right out front and there was secure ski lockers as well as a super warm drying room for boots. Beautiful view outside the window of the slopes and snow covered forest. Able to watch the groomers working each morning. The hotel provides a buffet which was helpful as the food options in Shiga are very limited at dinner time.

Cons:

The place is pretty dated and not all rooms have showers so you have to use the public bath. Thankfully our room had a toilet. We booked a room with Tatami mats, which meant we had plenty of space in the room but for us westerners they were pretty uncomfortable. The room was also very hot with no way to control temp other than opening a window. Having said that, all these things were acceptable for the reasonable price we paid and forgivable given the proximity to the slopes.

Fantastic location, good facilities, friendly staff
Pros:

Absolutely awesome location, hard to get better.

Shower was phenomenal with hot water and great pressure

Room big and perfect for two people

Cons:

Wifi was not very good, but perhaps as expected in the mountains.

A bit dated in places and occasionally the odd smell, nothing too bad though.

Very old, no housekeeping even if you stay for a week
Pros:

The hotel has seen better days, there is old charm and there is neglect. Peeling wallpaper, faded, ripped posters on walls. It needs at least some cosmetic improvements. The place has the feeling of a school camp and lo and behold, a high school did have their ski camp at some stage.
The room doesn’t even have a mini fridge.
The only thing it has going for it is a very convenient ski in/ski out location.
Has several nice eateries on site, a casual Korean, a pizza place and a skiyaki/yakiniku restaurant.

Cons:

Old old old. Limited breakfast choices which hardly changed through the week. Dinner quality at the hotel buffet was very average.
If you treat it as a place to sleep while you ski, sure it will do.

No housekeeping at all!!!! We stayed for seven nights.

Pros:

Location and proximity to ski fields

Cons:

Only 1x lift to access upper floors, long wait times for the lift, particularly in the morning and afternoon.

WiFi is pretty much useless, extremely slow network speeds and not useable.

Staff English proficiency is very poor, hard to communicate if you don’t know Japanese
