Poor communication
Pros:

Wanted our small wedding reception here, registry office all booked and wedding breakfast arranged but found out no room’s available to book on the same night. Extremely poor communication and feel we were fooled into booking something they clearly could not fulfill completely

Great stay in Lichfield
Pros:

Right in the part of Lichfield where most of the bars and restaurants are situated. The hotel was a lovely venue for all sixteen of us to stay at and such friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms were adequately stocked and extremely clean all were air conditioned. The food was second to none and must mention the mashed potatoes with the fresh herbs infused.

Hot and noisy.
Pros:

Very nice hotel in a good location handy for all the city amenities.

Cons:

The room was comfortable, but the air con was broken so in a heatwave, the room was unbearably hot. The staff explained that it needed regassing but it wasn't working last year either, so likely to be an excuse for the fact it was switched off as it was too expensive to run.

The radiator in the room was also hot and couldn't be turned off until we complained and a hearing engineer arrived. All the hotel could offer to cool the room was a couple of fans that were ineffective.

The room was on the second floor with no lift and if the window was left open overnight to try to cool the room, the noise outside from the neighbouring bar was also unbearable and went on until 3am.. To cap it all, the street sweeper came past at 5am. And woke us up again.

The staff tried to help but the problems were not really able to be solved. All they could offer was sympathy and an explanation that it was a heatwave and by implication, out of their control.

The Premier Inn is just down down the road and looks far more inviting.

Hot and noisy
Pros:

Location.

Cons:

Very hot. Air con not working and very noisy all night on street outside so opening windows was impossible without disturbance. Only fans supplied for cooling which was unacceptable. I'll try the Premier Inn next time.

Room was very hot ...there was a fan surplied but that would just rotate hot air . Why have a air conditioner but no controls !!

Don’t faint at the bar prices!!!
Pros:

Generally good. Lovely air-conditioned room. Good breakfasts and dinners. BUT the bar prices were exorbitant - £3.70 for a Schweppes Tonic mixer! Disgraceful.

An absolute joy
Pros:

My 3 night stay during a heatwave was a great experience. This is hospitality done the proper way, as befits a family run business. As soon as I walked into Reception I knew I was in for a great stay. There are always staff around and all so friendly. I was in room 61 on the 1st floor directly above the coffee shop, where residents get a 25% discount - it does close a bit early though. It was a charming room and completely soundproofed from outside, although with the age of the hotel you may be aware when someone is in the room next door. It also had a silent but efficient air con unit, so I was never uncomfortable during my stay. I dined in the hotel on all 3 nights. The bar and restaurant serve the same menu at the same prices. Portions are excellent and prices are on a par with the competing restaurants nearby. Breakfast is buffet style, well stocked and laid out attractively. The city centre is flat and easy to walk round as it's mainly pedestrianised. The bus station and railway station (across the road from each other) are within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. Lichfield is particularly well served by buses and I enjoyed visiting a number of nearby towns during my stay. I was on a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal and felt for the overall experience I had, it represented very good value for money. I would happily stay here again.
