Good Story - Neptune Resort

It's the second time we've been to this hotel (6 friends).
The hotel has a very good location in weligama bay, in front of the beach and near many restaurants, local food and international food.
The stuff is very helpful, doing the best for the visitors.
The hotel have a very nice beach bar where you can eat, drink and enjoy the sunbeds.
There's a lot of points that you can rent surfboard (the main surf point of weligama is located just in front of the hotel.
Definitely we'll come back!

Absolutely loved waking up to a beautiful view and stepping out onto such a cool surf beach. Amazing location. Staff lovely and helpful. They arranged a cot for our toddler with mosquito net. Breakfast delicious and great vegan porridge option. Sad to be leaving and would recommend to others. Our toddler loved running round the beach and having our bungalow so close. The food at the beach bar is great and they do amazing juices and coconuts. Thank you all for a lovely stay!

This is a wonderful cozy place with a beautiful exit to one of the best for beginner surf spots, but surfers with experience will be able to appreciate this beach. The hotel has a swimming pool and a restaurant with spring kitchen. Responsive staff, sanctified area on the beach with a bar and comfortable tables at which it is so cool to watch the sun go down! I recommend to visit everyone!

What can I say- mould, cockroaches, stained sheets and a bathroom we dared not use. We stayed one night. One night too long. We woke our driver at the crack of dawn and could not get out fast enough. So dissapointing.

We arrived in Weligama from Yala to breakup the remaining two days of our journey through Sri Lanka. Couldn't get into any of the more higher end hotels due to nationwide curfew fast approaching and the couple hotels we tried to book refused us entry due to recent events.

We grabbed this hotel upon recommend from W15 staff as they were fully booked. What a hellhole. Stained sheets, hair on pillows, cockroaches in room, musty damp smell, smell outside from standing on balcony, substandard bathroom with rusted fittings and water pressure lower than a piss.

Unfortunately with the curfew the staff had all left for the night. They left some poor old man to be some sort of security. Se we couldn't get any new and preferably clean sheets or towels.

The place is wretched dirty and not a place you would want to stay unless desperate. Neptune's should be paying people to stay there it's that bad. You'd be better off in a backpacking hostel. And the nutcase owner rang and abused our driver because we left early in the morning before staff had returned even though we bank transferred money to them for our stay.

Not as advertised, the nice pictures must be from the cabins because the rooms are extremely small and the bathroom was not clean and would flood, from our tiny balcony we could touch the business that was next door. The service was terrible and the reception was absolutely the worst I have ever experienced.

The best place to sleep eat surf meeting new people and just be .Central point on beach line.

Our initial room was right next to the highway, rundown and had us in bad spirits as we didn’t sleep all night.
The next morning we asked for a room change and the reception staff kindly helped us.

The longer we stayed, the more we loved the place. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the free breakfast was amazing and the curry for dinner was the best we had eatin in Sri Lanka.

The laundry service was great, the location is amazing and the beach vibe right out the front is really good and relaxing.

If I come back to Sri Lanka, Id stay here again.

Resort is right on the beach. There’s a fun beach bar and it’s a cool place to hang out. However we had booked a triple room when only a double was provided. Also at checkout the hotel tried to charge us for the triple room rate. The staff handled the mistake well and we paid for what we received. In general the resort could do with a bit of maintenance to brighten it up.

the hotel is on the beach ,there are rooms and bungalows to chose from.
we stayed at the second floor bungalow at the end of our trip for 3 nights.
it is a big room with a beautiful view of the beach.
it has a huge bed and they put in 2 extra (folding) beds for the kids.

the breakfast here is PERFECT. so fresh and tasty.
it is refreshing and rare to get a good salad for BF.

but the best thing here is the staff! they are so kind.
and there is no one like Champi !
she is by far the best host we met. so attentive, has all the answers you need and always with a smile .

Staff were friendly and excellent. Very responsive. Great location right on beach. Food was always great. Excellent bfast selection. (Had amazing Singhalise curry) Hats off to the chef, can even do Shakshuka! Good surf spot, especially for beginners right in front of hotel. Can hire boards from guys next to hotel on beach for about 200 rupee an hour. Decent bar, but like everywhere in resorts in sri lanka, drinks and food are marked up in price substantially compared to buying outside. Rooms were comfortable with AC, hot water, comfy beds with mosquito nets. Small balcony can dry wet towels, boardshorts etc. I would stay here again, staff service is great. My only minor complaint is hotel arranged private taxi to Tissa which was over-priced by about 3000 rupees. Though to be fair it was our fault for not shopping around and checking with outside providers.

I stayed four nights with my boyfriend and we truly lived our time at the Neptune Resort! After travelling across Sri Lanka it was a luxury spending all day without flip flops at the beach, starting with an amazing breakfast at the beach bar! What you will find there is a truly wonderful staff very attentive to your wellbeing and safety! I felt loved and I will always come back!

This hotel was fantastic, I had a really big room with quite stylish ensuite bathroom and when I opened the door I looked straight out on to the surf. Their beach bar was great for sipping cocktails at sunset. The staff are really friendly and could not be more helpful. Considering the location, the air con and the lovely pool area, I thought this place was great value.

We stayed 3 nights at Good Story, & this is a good ending .
Firstly the staff , especially Champi, were all wonderful, helpful & happy people.
Chef is amazing, cooking us up some delicious food, Coconut Prawns &
Sri Lankan breakfast are a must.
We come to this are of Sri Lanka often & like to stay at different places at the end of our holiday after staying with a local family for the majority of our stay. However after staying at Good Story we will be splitting our stay in 2 from now on.
Upstairs Bungalow sea view rooms are lovely with all the extra you need. Always a sea breeze from the balcony & Sunbeds with umbrellas on the beach.
Champi you really made our stay special thank you.

My husband and I spent almost 2 weeks at this property during the low season and if we are going to take away one main thing, it's that the staff is so very kind and attentive. The Manager Chompi was so sweet, she went above and beyond for us and Saranga at the restaurant was amazing!
It does not hurt that we had a room facing the water. Everything was clean and working properly (AC, safe, fan, hot water, wifi) and the restaurant food was quite decent.
We would definitely stay again. Thank you Neptune!

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at this great hotel, and loved it! Super good value, for a bungalow with sea views, aircon, hot water, and good internet throughout the whole resort. The place is beautiful and one of very few beachfront locations in Weligama- and it’s just outside the best surf break in town. The included breakfast was freshly prepared, hearty, and delicious... and had much better coffee than the much more expensive place next door. The staff were all super friendly, the chef is extremely talented, and Champi in particular was so kind and helpful. We are so glad we stayed here and recommend everyone else does too!

We went here to have a quiet lunch we the kids. Prices were a bit high, but all in all we wanted to let the kids order something else than rice and curry 😉 Big mistake!!! They ordered pizzas, which took 45 min to serve, and they weren’t baked properly. We complained and the chef came with three complimentary pasta carbonaras, which turned out to be halfcooked penne with some cream and a slice of cheese on top... The best thing in this restaurant was that we didn’t have to pay. Stay away!!!

We had a pleasure to find Nepture Story for our Weligama visit, as it turned out for a perfect place for our needs & wishes. First we stayed 3 nights in a garden-view 1st floor bungalow and were very happy with it. After traveling few days in the south coast, we really realized that we most enjoyed our time in Weligama at Nepture Story. So we booked another 4 nights there! The staff were so helpful & flexible - especially thanks for the manager! We first stayed on a room next to the road, but managed to change to 2nd floor bungalows with a sea view - and could not have been happier!

Overall: The place is cosy, friendly and in the absolute best spot in Weligama beach, where you can enjoy their small beach bar beverages & good foods from their restaurant, rent a board in a good price for the great surf and just relax. The staff is friendly and the place is safe. It's a great value for price.

Rooms: They have a good air con which was essential for cooling down after a day in the beach. Rooms are clean - not luxurious and could be upgraded a bit, however they were good enough for us truly. We recommend to have the bungalow as they are having a nice view, more space and closer to beach with a nice sound from the ocean. The basic room next to the road we had for 1 night was quite noisy in the night so make sure to pick one facing towards the garden if going for rooms.

Food: The food at Neptune Story is really good. We had some chicken burgers in the beach bar and breakfasts - all we tested were really good. Make sure to try our Israeli rolls and Traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts! The head chef is taking a good care of the customers together with the restaurant staff.

A big thank you for the manager & staff for making our Weligama stay so nice! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a surf or chill vacation at Weligama!

We were not staying here but would hang out from time to time on their cool beach loungers and have drinks and snacks. I however had the misfortune of getting hit in the face by a surfboard and had a bad cut on my eye and the manager and manageress went out of their way to take me to the doctor to get it sorted out. Going the extra mile to offer amazing service was much appreciated.

This place is the best I ever stayed somewhere! I've been there already 2 years ago and now (March of 2018) and I will back again. 1 step to the beach, good rooms and bungalows, breakfast and the main menu in restaurant- all things are awesome. The owner was changed but the new Staff ( manager,chief, and other guys) is working hard for comfy staying. Good story surf school are still there and located on the 2nd floor of restaurant, you can take a surf lessons with truly the best instructors in Weligama
