Very nice stay. Staff and room worth the cost
Excellent stay!
Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Cheval. The room was spotless and beautiful. The staff were welcoming and the location was perfect. We would definitely stay again.
Beautiful hotel. Everything has been done to perfection. Lots of attention to detail. The architecture, rooms, the entire experience, the staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel.
Wonderful place nice breakfast plus bar etc.
Very nice staff.
Obsessed with this place. Class, location and lots of little extra touches
My wife and I just spent three nights at Hotel Cheval and can't say enough about it...it's one of our favorite small hotels ever. Everyone who works there is as friendly and helpful as is possible. The rooms are spacious, sparklingly clean, well-appointed and airy. The courtyard and interesting little seating areas are great to hang out in during the day, and by fireside in the evening. The breakfasts are wonderful and speedily served. The only minor disappointment was the strength of the coffee...it was quite weak, so we took advantage of Hotel Cheval's newish next-door coffee shop which will make great coffees and deliver it to the Hotel Cheval eating areas. Everything about this hotel is just the best...we can't wait to return!
We were on a road trip to Napa and decided to stop in Paso Robles—and wow, are we glad we did! After reading tons of reviews, I came across Hotel Cheval, and it turned out to be an absolute gem. This gorgeous boutique property exceeded our expectations in every way.
The hotel is intimate and beautifully designed, with rooms arranged around a serene central courtyard. It’s just a short walk to Paso Robles Square, where you’ll find great restaurants and wine tasting rooms—super convenient and fun to explore.
We upgraded to a Luxury Room and stayed in the Lexington on the second floor. Waiting for us was a chilled bottle of champagne and a thoughtful birthday card for my husband—such a sweet touch! While our room faced Pine Street and didn’t offer much of a view, and we did hear some street noise (cars, motorcycles, and even Amtrak as it rolled by), the room itself was spacious, beautifully appointed, and had a cozy fireplace and a huge bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect for naps and deep sleep!
Service was impeccable. We requested extra pillows and a fan (for white noise), and they magically appeared while we were at dinner. Every staff interaction was warm, helpful, and genuine.
The courtyard is a standout feature, with lots of comfy seating, fireplaces, and peaceful fountains. And don’t miss the S’mores Concierge in the evening! There’s even a fun S’mores menu—we definitely overindulged, but it was worth it. We sipped cocktails from the Pony Club, which is reserved just for hotel guests—a very nice, private perk.
Breakfast is included and served at the Pony Club. There were plenty of delicious options and you can sit indoors or outside depending on your mood.
Hotel Cheval is a special, relaxing, and charming place—the kind of spot you immediately want to tell all your friends about. We already have, and we can’t wait to come back!
Wood-burning fire pits in the courtyard and complementary s’mores made this an experience to remember. I would definitely stay here again.
Fairly quiet except for the early morning trash trucks and occasional train horns. Loved the idea of daily/ nightly fires but they were pretty smokey. The room was lovely and the gas fireplace was a treat. The staff is exceptional. Convenient walk to the entire downtown area.
A charming hotel. Lovely room and bath right on the courtyard! Location was terrific, close to the square , restaurant and shops, but feeling private. Staff beyond welcoming. At night everyone gathers around the firepits for a s'mores menu. Highly recommend "Trigger." Just a delightful way to visit Paso.
Great experience---room was extremely comfortable, many common areas to relax, food/service for breakfast was excellent. Hotel is convenent being downtown--able to walk to restaurants for dinner/drinks at multiple restaurants.
Hotel Cheval is a quaint and charming property. The smores, breakfast and live music are lovely touches
amazing place to stay I will be back
Great small boutique hotel with a great ambiance and fantastic staff……
We had a lovely first stay at Cheval. We have traveled to Paso 3-4 times a year for the last 3 years and this was our first time to stay at Hotel Cheval. We have already booked another stay for our trip this fall. The location is fantastic just off the town square and within walking distance for shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms in downtown. Our luxury room was large, mostly quiet, and had a nice view of the courtyard and balcony that looked off the back of the property. Plenty of storage space in the room. We enjoyed the gas fireplace as well. Shower and bathroom were large. We also loved having the Nespresso machine in the room and a large bottle of water daily. The included breakfast was perfect for us with several options for egg and non-egg eaters. We also loved the s'more menu in evening - we made sure to make it back in time for that both nights!
There was a little noise from the police/fire station, but not bad. I didn't love the bath products, but I appreciate that they were provided and are environmentally friendly.
The staff was lovely and helpful and Cheval has become our favorite place to stay in the heart of Paso.
We wanted to spend a couple nights in Paso Robles and I stumbled upon this gem online. What a wonderful property. The facilities are quiet, beautifully appointed and we loved the nice breakfast included that we had in the Pony Bar. The location is great for talking walks around town. I would highly recommend!
Paso is one of our favorite places to go. Normally we would rent a house but for this special birthday occasion we could only get away for a couple nights and we've always been curious about the Cheval so booked it. What a great decision! We arrived a bit late and they had fabulous cake and champagne on ice waiting for us. As many other reviews have stated the staff go above and beyond in every way. Even if you don't need anything they are great just to have a chat with. The outdoor fireplaces are fab, we had a couple very cold nights and they were very cozy. We took advantage of the S'mores somme, Mike was great. The whole thing was magical. In sum, Cheval is worth it!
Christmas feel
Recently our group of four couples stayed at the Hotel Cheval and we had an amazing time. We were there for wine tasting and really enjoyed our time sitting by the fire in the evening in the courtyard. The staff treated us like royalty and we had a wonderful time. All of us will definitely come again.
