A perfect comfortable pit stop while on the NC 500.
Pros:

I liked the price, and the central location staff were friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was very beautiful in its day and was kept clean breakfast included was perfect for a night out in Tain

If you are not bothered about decor you will be well looked after and comfortable during your stay
Pros:

Pleasant and attentive staff, the location met my requirements. Although a limited menu the food for dinner & breakfast was well prepared/cooked and presented. The portion size was amazing, you will not go away hungry & the food was amazing value for money. Having free carparking was also a benefit if travelling by car and the hotel looks down the Main Street with a short walk to shops, supermarket. Bus stops and train station all within a short walk of the hotel. The free WiFi signal was excellent.

Cons:

The decor is dated, although functional. The WiFi code is hand written and stuck to the main reception counter top. I have compromised sight and I found it difficult to find and read, an A4 printed wall mounted WiFi sign at reception would be better with smaller printed WiFi signs printed and displayed close to the TV’s in each room. It would save the staff constantly being asked for this information.

Overall an enjoyable stay
Pros:

Nice central location and impressive traditional building, lots of style. Room was spacious and comfortable. Very nice breakfast too

Cons:

My room carpet was rather stained and old (it may have just needed a good clean). For the most part I couldn’t locate a plug for sink (I had arrived late in the evening so didn’t seek assistance) resulting in it being tricky to freshen up after my travels. In the cold light of day I learned that a plug was present - oddly it formed part of the inset to the top of a tap 🤔

Could not ask for better
Pros:

​I really enjoyed my stay at the Royal Hotel. The manager was outstanding; he even upgraded the rooms for both me and my friends.

​I slept extremely well as the hotel was very quiet and clean. Its central location was perfect, and the breakfast was excellent with a huge variety of choices. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone—it is extremely good value for money.

Base whilst visit various family members around the area.
Pros:

Very helpful and friendly staff. The food was very good. We had to leave before breakfast was served on the Sunday but we were given two ample and nice lunch boxes instead. Situated in the centre of Tain with ample parking behind the hotel. Stayed here 20 years ago and will probably use it on our next visit.

Cons:

The room menu showed a large selection but due to it being quiet empty, the actual menu was much reduced. The room needed some tlc as there was some mould high up on the wall above the bath/shower. Also, one piece of wallpaper had come loose at a corner by the ceiling and two pieces of ceiling paper had come loose on a portion of the ceiling

Perfect !
Pros:

We were given the most amazing room with a four poster bed and a stunning bathroom which we hadn’t booked. Was much appreciated. Staff were so friendly and helpful and breakfast was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
