This could be a great hotel with a refresh and some staff training on etiquette
Pros:

Lovely old hotel in a great location with a really good breakfast.

Cons:

The receptionist / barman / breakfast waiter was very polite but kept talking to someone else through an earpiece in between interactions - not very professional and doesn’t give a good impression.
Also the bathroom extractor fan was broken and making a loud buzzing sound whenever the bathroom light was switched on.
The hotel was very dated and although we liked the character, it really needs a refresh.

Disapointing
Pros:

Not much

Cons:

The rooms were very dated but the wall paper was hanging off the walls and badly patched up.
The curtains didn't even fit the window - too thin.
There was a broken section of glass out of the bedroom window that had not been seen to.

If refurbished we would definitely return for a few days

Host 10/10 He was welcoming, attentive, professional,
Meals 10/10 breakfast was ample, varied, hot. Evening meals were well presented and good sized portions. Only down side was a limited menu as we stayed for a few nights

Cons:

Welcome folder had a laminate Hotel information sheet, which often referred to dial 0 for reception assistant, however there was no phone within the Boardroom Suite
Fire alarm weekly test planned for a Tuesday morning at 9.30am never happened then
The whole Hotel is dated and past the tired look to a more exhausted look. This is outwith our hosts and daily cleaners remit, as they are trying their best to keep positive to work within the conditions given by the owner/management, who responsibilities lie to ensure customers re-book

Fine for a night but rooms are beyond tired

Service is great - Breakfast is great

Cons:

No effort is being made with maintenance - the hotel is just ticking over and is in dire need of a handy man to be perfoming repairs and maintaining the place - stained mastic, wallpaper hanging off, damaged furniture, faulty door locks - just open your eyes and put some effort in

Cons:

The room had black mould on the ceiling, peeling wallpaper and the bathroom was covered in bugs. None of the TVs worked and it was hard to find people to ask for anything. The evening meal was very disappointing as the food was swimming in grease.

Location & breakfast where good.

Cons:

The hotel was generally looking a bit tired and in need of decoration. Perfectly clean but it certainly needed a refresh. Difficult to find anyone to serve at the bar/restaurant or available at the reception.
