Was attending and staying over for an event and while the event staff / bar staff / reception staff were absolutely lovely the room itself was a bit of a let down.
The positives, the bed was comfortable, and clean and the room was very large which was nice. I particularly enjoyed the ice bucket provided and the bath was a great size.
However, the bed while comfortable was two single beds pushed together with a topper meaning there was a divot in the middle of the bed which I kept rolling into it.
On top of that, the cleanliness of the room was a bit below where I would expect it to be with a stained towel, and mould in the bathroom
The shower never seemed to get warm. But water was hot in the bath and the electric radiators were a bit dated.
All in all, it as alright, I appreciate some of these issues could have been solved by speaking to reception (new towels for example and possibly the hot water) but my the time I noticed it I was already in the shower and not really in a state of dress to go down/ have someone come up and I was needing to be at the event rather than chasing this up.
We booked this as a weekend get away..the best thing about the hotel is the staff, they carry it. It needs investment and renaming the Kelpie Hotel. Breakfast was well run but bacon barely cooked and juices on offer not labeled and out a carton. This is an ok 3* hotel with 5* staff bringing it up. Our room was forgettable hence the late mention..needs a rehall.
We recently stayed three nights in this hotel as it is central to all the local sites ie Kelpies, Falkirk Wheel, Stirling Castle and the National Railway Museum which we came to visit! The Kelpies are a 20 mins steady walk so you can see them very easily in both the daytime and evening when they are lit up. From the Kelpies you can walk along the canal thro a small woodland to the Wheel. This takes around 80 mins!!
My review has three elements:
The hotel is an old building which has been completely renovated inside and has a really nice ambience. It is located close to the M9 but the traffic noise was minimal and we are very light sleepers. The hotel provides breakfast and afternoon tea but no evening meals…these are available in CooKs restaurant which shares a big car park with the hotel and is very good with reasonable prices!….see separate review! There is a bar in the hotel if you just need a drink in the evening!
Check in was friendly and very efficient and our room was in the garden room building at the back of the hotel. Our room 207 was large and very modern with a nice decor. All facilities were provided including good lighting, king sized bed, big tv, water, tea and biscuits etc. The bathroom was also a good size with nice big bath towels, bath/shower and plenty of hot water!
Breakfast is inside the hotel in a very nice breakfast room! There was a good choice of continental breakfast type items ie cereals, fruit, cakes and fruit juices which was followed by a full Scottish breakfast. If you prefer a smaller breakfast they will serve you with bacon or sausage baps, poached eggs on toast etc. plenty of toast and tea/coffee served by two very friendly and efficient ladies
One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Really polite staff and the hotel was spotlessly clean. An ideal base for visiting Edinburgh, the Kelpies and the Falkirk wheel.
Central location, it's
Easy parking and the room was clean and very spacious. The only let down was the breakfast. Certainly not value for money and the coffee was undrinkable.
Comfortable clean room with nice staff at check in
When ordering I told them we were disabled, but when we arrived we were given a room on the first floor. After having to walk outside and along the side of the building to get to our room, we then found the lift was out of order and no way could we manage the stairs. When I asked what if it's raining the guy said "you get wet". They did change our room to downstairs. However you had to cross two car parks to get to the restaurant, so we drove there. If you walked "you got wet". Now breakfast was a different kettle of fish. This was very good and was actually in the hotel and you didn't get wet. To put it mildly. We will not be going back to this hotel.
The hotel itself is lovely and very welcoming. We arrived quite late and had a drink at the bar then checked out the room which was a really good size. Very well presented. My only gripe was the noise early in the morning as we were on the first floor near the car park which woke us up early
Would highly recommend Grange Manor hotel. Staff were really friendly and excellent service. Room spotless and good parking. Food was absolutely lovely and enjoyed murder, mystery night. Definitely go back.
Pleasant stay
Stayed overnight for a wedding reception celebration and it was perfect.
Ample parking spaces, great signage to reception. Warm welcome and informative overview of WiFi, amenities and where my room was.
My room was so lovely, great view with nobody behind me and had all I needed The Elemis toiletries were gorgeous, the shower (albeit slow) was super toasty, plush towels, and the robe/slippers just finished it off.
It was so quiet, as had lots of doors before getting to my room, and I felt safe given I was on my own.
Check in and out times are really good, no rush and plenty food/drink options on site.
Very clean. Good food. Good staff.
Lift not working.
Lukewarm water which even cut out altogether during one shower.
Very reasonable price for the accommodation. Room clean. Hotel staff were nice and the service from the two waitresses in Cooks restaurant was great.
A bit noisy on the Saturday evening as our room was very near the wedding venue therefore difficult to sleep. Another seemed planned for the Sunday so would have been two nights in a row had we not been checking out. If returning we would ask for a room on the opposite corridor. Overall a nice stay
The staff were lovely, polite and efficient. Location was good for a stopover on the drive to northern Scotland. Breakfast was very tasty. The bedroom was spacious, very clean and the bed was comfy but the decor is tired. Lift was broken and appears to have been so for a while.
This was the quietest hotel I have ever stayed at 10/10. Excellent breakfast. Even had a go at the black pudding, not quite my cup of tea though. Loved the overnight with you guys.
I enjoyed my stay, however the Hotel itself is a bit tired and could really do with a revamp.
Friendly polite staff.
Hotel check in was good. Nice staff. Good breakfast. Hotel property is fairly tired looking
The carpets were very old. Some of the cupboard drawers were not closing properly; the screws, nut and bolt were loose. Lot of humidity in one of the rooms. No fans were available. Just an average stay
