The hotel has a great view to the pists. It is warm, clean, with fully equipped kitchen, parking, wifi at the reception, 15' walking distance to the pists but with bus service also available. The ski center is very well organized with good snow condition even by the end of March, lifts that can take you to many places in the area including France. I strongly recommend Palace Residence 2.
Easy to reach via Turin - Bardonecchia highway. Close to other interesting sites like Clavier, Monginevre, Pragelato. Beautiful mountain tracks . Well served with testaurants, pizzerias, bars, sun-bathing lounges. Facilities for training and athletes and sport-fans.
Palace 2 location in well placed, away from traffic and noise but at walking distance from town centre. Good parking facilities inside and outside the resort.
Palace two is well managed. Cleanliness, efficiency of personnell. With SPA, Bar, Playground room,
TV , entertainment for children, small foodstore, team of organizers for evening shows.
The hotel does not have any pool Jacuzzi restaurant . The is no transportation in the town and they dont help at all.
Nice apartment in Sestriere. The location is a little far from the nearest skislope and lift, but the skibus stops in front of the entrance. The apartment is ok but be aware of a few things. To reach the big bedroom you must pass the smaller bedroom with bunk beds (ok if you are aware and content with that). The kitchen doesn't have a oven or microwave oven. There are also a lack of wineglasses, but there are some larger waterglasses listed as wineglasses. There are three knives listed as kitchen knives but they are in fact regular table knives for meat. Other than that the kitchen are basically equipped with most things we needed. Overall good value for money but nothing to brag about. The skiing is ok, but the second week in February, the snow situation is poor in some slopes with lots of gravel.
Hotel is located walking distance-15-20 min- from town/skiing area. There is shuttle bus as well every hour, costs 1.70 eur one way.Hotel rooms are very clean, decoration typical ski resorty.Downstairs small shop is SO handy, everything one needs for snacks and even for dinner. In the lobby there is lovely bar area,at night karaoke and for kids, there is kids club, open 4-7.30 pm.And most important-ladies at reception are just exeptional! One feels as a real guest with them! And kids club girls(Alessia and Niclole),fantastic! So overall very nice stay, thank you all!
We went after the skiing season so impressions are skewed. Sestriere was empty with very few people around and only two eating places open. Palace Resort 2 was adequate with a good underground garage. I would not recommend anyone to go in the bridge period between skiing and hiking. Sestriere is only a winter sports centre and has no intrinsic appeal.
We went in the off-season, and the town was at about 1% occupancy. We enjoyed the quiet resort, local hiking and driving tours, and hospitality at local restaurants with no waiting. The provincial park is a scenic place for hiking in The Alps without any real mountain climbing.
We had a very pleasant stay at the resort in the first week of April. The resort is approx 15 mins walk from the ski slopes and we are no slouches! The return is up a reasonable incline, a good workout at 2,000m! The hotel is a bit dated but clean and pleasant, the only complaint being that one of our rooms smelled strongly of smoke. The rooms are quite compact and would be a squeeze for 6 as advertised - we had 5 in one room and 2 in another and were thankful of the second room as we had somewhere to eat on the 4 nights we stayed in to cook, without having to clear the foldaway bed. The 6 bed would be ideal for a family of 4.
The restaurant was closed during our stay but we knew that before we booked - not sure when it closes but worth finding out if you are expecting breakfast and an evening meal. Also, there was little in the way of entertainment but we weren't there for that. Grace did a great job laying on breakfast from the bar but this was limited to fresh orange (lovely), teas, coffees and pastries/pancakes/museli. Prices are very reasonable.
I can't praise the staff highly enough, Grace in particular who went above and beyond the call of duty when one of our party feel ill and needed hospital treatment - she bent over backwards to help including lifts to and from the medical centre. She also organised a room extension on our final day which, again, was completely discretionary but very much appreciated. Gratzie Grace, you were wonderful!
We were lucky with the conditions but the snow was on its last legs by the time we left on 8th April - one to watch.
Had the most wonderful time on the last week of the season- lucked out with a lot of snow and glorious sunshine. The best things about the resort are the ladies manning the reception and the bar- ever helpful and cheerful. Cannot recommend enough.
We stayed for a week, out of season, when virtually everything was shut down in the town. We planned to walk, and enjoy the scenery, while things were quiet.
The view from the place is unbelievable - the alps are right in front of you, and all around you. They were snow capped when we visited, and so beautiful.
The front desk/ reception lady was so welcoming, efficient and helpful, assisting us in english. She recommended places for us to go to, and we followed her good recommendations of going over to Briancon in France for a day, and also going into Turin for a day ( catching the train from Oulx).
We also went through to Bardonecchio for a day, which was really pretty.
The Forte di Fenestrelle is a real show stopper to visit too.... you need at least a half day for the 3 hour tour.
The apartment ( with 2 bedrooms) was basic, but perfectly functional, with most of what one required. There is no oven/ microwave/ toaster or kettle in the kitchen ( they can be hired for extra) .
The bedding was nice, and the bathroom looked refurbished.
The internet signal in the apartment was no good, but we could hire a device, so that we could get signal in the apartment.
For skiing, Sestriere seems ideal.
Visited palace 2 for an impromptu family ski break. The place was basic but clean and the staff were friendly. Especially Maddalena Randazzo who was entertaining the kids at apres ski. This was definitely the highlight for our kids (8 and 4) who were utterly charmed by this lovely lady. She was very kind and got both of them singing karaoke in the bar which allowed us to relax with a Spritz Veneziano! Much appreciated after a long day skiing.
I was here for a week with friends. The service is flawless, and the personnel is competent and ready for any question.
Rooms are fine, with all the commodities to not live in a mess for a week: ski box, deposit for boots, multiple car place. The bar is operative until late.
It is situated at 5 minutes walk from the city center and 10 minutes walk from the starting of the slopes, but there also is a bus stop in front of it in case you don't want to walk.
Very fair price.
Not polite very little help especially if you speak English. Washer and dryer to be used from 9 to 9.
We put a load in to wash and the time to wash said 3 hours to wash. We figured no way 3 hours. We kept checking to see if wash was done. We put the wash a little before 8. At 10:30 we came down and power to the whole room was off and washer was locked closed so we could not get our laundry out until the next morning which meant we had to wash them again. Totally idiotic. A 3 hour wash and cutting of power so you can’t get the wash out. Who does that. Go to the desk ask for help. Doesn’t speak a word of English. Sends a text to another person they text back wash is over at 9. They can’t get their wash until 9 the next morning. Totally ridiculous.
We stayed in palace2 for a week. Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Used half-board option, the food was great, the restaraunt was accomodating for vegetarian food.
The hotel is 15-20 min walk from the slopes, but there is a bus.
wifi in the reception area, free.
Overall very good.
Just back from a week skiing nice hotel great staff food great.
