A basic place that is serviceable and does not promise anything more than it delivers.
This place is run down and disgusting. It is the worst place I have ever stayed and I paid too much. I had a function at Fort Scratchley and this was the closest. It looks good in the photos and you could book city views or ocean views. Don't do it, there are far better places in Newcastle to stay. This is embarassing for Newcastle.
Great view from ocean view room
Walked in room garbage hadn’t been emptied, wet towels everywhere no clean towels and bedding hadn’t been changed
From arrival things were hard the sign says enter room then door key you only need to enter door entry code corridor to room smelt of cig smoke my room while had a lovely view windows dirty cobwebs curtains broken dust on kettle behind tv & on PowerPoints & window crevers dirt arround bathroom taps toilet old 1 flush system mould on grout in shower, could smell cig smoke through internal air system couldn't open balcony door for fresh air as raining no roof over balcony tea & coffee looked to have just been placed with no sortment, bed was comfortable & clean
Run down, balcony door left unlocked, curtain didn’t cover window and was tied with a shoelace. Entrance light not working.
Should be cheaper. Very worn down and rickety. Noisy with people smoking pot around so bad smell. No parking unless pay $25 a day. Only good thing was beach location.
There is no onsite reception staff, which would have been good to know at the time of booking. The paid parking PIN code arrived 90 mins after arrival. The room carpet needed vacuuming, previous occupants had eaten noodles! There was a shard of glass in the bed that cut a foot! Won’t be staying here again!
Check in didn’t go to plan, 2pm came and still no code to enter building or room. Sent an email, no reply until 6pm, I found a phone number and I was on hold for ages but was finally sent the codes at 3pm. Room smelt like an ashtray. Beds and pillows were comfy and clean. Most surfaces eg the table, tv stand, bathroom sink and tub were dirty. Walls are very thin and you can hear people talking in the next room. I wore earplugs and I could still hear the tv next door (after 11pm). Location is good, not too far from public transport. If you want a quiet clean room, don’t stay here.
The hotel is rundown and needs an urgent repair.
There is no parking and the street around only has 2hr limit.
We thought it was good value for the mo
ney.. comfy big bed, crisp sheets, balcony and view of ocean and because it eas windy we could hear the surf...beautiful. bathrooms although old and bit tired were clean and towells fluffy and white... I would go again. Access via codes was very easy for us who are older!
Desperately in need of a freshen up. Stained, torn carpets, broken curtains not wide enough to cover window. Only one star for staff as there are none. Will try elsewhere next time.
The cupboard was missing tracks for the sliding door, water pipes would hammer when on. Bed was horrible, could literally feel every coil spring in the mattress, bathroom looked like it had been pulled out of tiny seventies caravan with trim coming apart. Carpets stained. Crockery and cutlery missing. For the price of the room it should have been $70 - $80 lower per night to match the quality. Staff on the phone were friendly.
Great location,
the room did not look anything like the picture on the web. kitchen contents consisted of two mugs, one beer-glass and one water glass!
walls had large areas of decay and random patches of plaster; the artwork (picture) on the wall was torn; the overhead light did not work and the airconditioner was rusted. the bed was actually two single beds pushed together but they did not have the same height so there was a ridge in the middle.
the ads for the hotel listed a bar and restaurant which do not exist (on phoning the number for help we were told they had been closed for TWO YEARS!) Similarly the advertised breakfast did not exist!
Parking was exorbitantly priced.
The promised sms pre-arrival did not give all three of the correct access codes -- we had to ring for help.
help staff try hard but as English is not their first language they have difficulty
there was no information of any kind in the room at all , no local facilities, no emergency details, NOTHING!
This is the second time we have stayed in Newcastle where the hotel is obviously being taken over and managed by an offshore company and the information available to guests is inadequate if not misleading. In future we will stick to reputable hotel brands
I am not a robot
Shocking property in a good location. No staff, basic rooms, noisy, uncomfortable.
No hot water.
It’s like staying in a vacant hotel that closed years ago. Restaurant and reception boarded up.
Shocker.
Bed and room was clean. Room had no view, toilet door did not close. Shower was awful. Neighbours complained about cockroachs everywhere. If it was a $40 a night fine. But at $160 total rip-off.
Will not ever stay again
