Location to family.
Staff members engaged in unprofessional behavior and conduct. A white woman claiming to be a manager but worked in the kitchen refused to help my mother when a couple staying at the hotel were verbally attacking her and threatening her with physical violence.
They told my mother and the police officer that the cameras didn’t work. The black guy that worked in the kitchen was on the patio instigating the drama and also said the cameras didn’t work.
The hotel took no action when this couple along with other guests harassed my mother in her room. The hotel staff made derogatory comments and statements about my mother in front of and to other guests.
When I arrived at the hotel to see what was happening, the hotel staff did nothing as the female guest continued to yell and scream at my mother. She then turned to me and called my husband and myself bitches then said she would call her family to the hotel to physically assault the three of us.
Clean, comfortable beds, clean bathroom, clean throughout entire hotel. Quiet and accommodating. Even though they are currently renovating, it did not disturb us at all!
Friendly staff

Dirty room
Very comfortable and clean. Has parking
AWFUL. Not returning. Ever. #1 The entire first floor is under renovation. No Bar, no restaurant, barely even a front desk, nothing. Plastic and construction everywhere. Didn't say anything about this on the website. #2 My original room--the AC was busted. 87 degrees in the room. Ok. They switched me to a different room. LOL---So, the AC worked---but the TV wouldn't turn on. Is this some kind of joke? Not funny. HGI--you need to do better.
The rooms were clean
Drilling and hammering all thru out the night. Wall plugs without any power.
Clean and comfortable.
They were remodeling and a little crowded due to the remodeling.
Truly the worst hotel experience we've had in years.
(1) Our desk chair was in complete disrepair to the point of being an injury risk. It wobbled so badly that we were afraid it would break and injure us. Also, the arm covering was gone, so even if it did not wobble it was very uncomfortable to use. (We have a video of it) We reported this, and the staffer who came to replace the chair had to go to several rooms before finally finding one that did not feel it was going to break (and the arm covering was also worn off). She said this was the seventh chair in recent days that had been reported like this. These chairs are not the norm for HGI (Herman Miller chairs are the norm), and are more like the $50 bargain basement chairs sold at Office Depot 15 years ago (the chairs seemed at least that old and worn). (2) There was no advance notice of the extensive renovations, which included there not being a restaurant/bar. This deprived us of our $20 food/bev credit on our second day as we had breakfast plans elsewhere and there was then no way to use our credit the night before. (3) The toilet barely flushed (yuck!). (4) The wall behind the upholstered chair was damaged and looked like it had been that way for a long time, telling us that there was NO basic maintenance of the room. (5) The blackout shade could not be raised, so we could not have sunlight in the room. (6) We could tell that housekeeping had been in the room on 5/14, other than taking the trash and replacing the towels, nothing else was done. It was disappointing to have an unmade bed, and even more disappointing that no one gave us a realistic expectation of their "standards" up-front.
We did text the hotel we were unhappy, and were texted back supposedly with an offer to speak. We said great - they asked when - we said "now is fine" - they said OK.... and didn't call. After about 15 minutes of waiting (we were about to go into an event), we gave up.
Separately (i.e. not the hotel's fault, but yet another reason not to stay there), there is major road construction in the area, and it can be so difficult to navigate all the road closures and delays, that even if the hotel were nice you wouldn't want to stay here unless you needed to be right there.
It was clean and well maintained
The hotel was clean, staff was nice
The room key didn't work, we had to go back down and wait in a 30 min line for the key to be reprogrammed. We were on the 4th floor and we were tired and just wanted in the room, so it was a small inconvenience. Everything else was fine.
