Rarely does any one speak English in this hotel although the staff are friendly and helpful, especially the concierge guys who were a life saver on more than one occasion. The room service menu is as good as non-existent, while the Western restaurant (the Riviera) is anything but! Only saving grace is the breakfast, which has adequate options. The housekeeping is good - rooms (which are massive) are kept clean. Suggestion for management: Get an English language teacher and it will go a long way in making your property an international one. Finally, if you are vegetarian, probably avoid this hotel (or should I say, the country?)
Rooms are spacious, the bed is wonderful and room amenities are great. I am writing this in the hope that the management will review this.
Very few staff members speak English: very little English is spoken by front desk staff, no one at the two restaurants speaks English (so it is very hard to order since menu are also not in English), the attendant at fitness room did not speak English, but the person who picked up and delivered for the room service spoke adequate English. Without my hosts who helped translated, it would have been very inconvenient.
There is no English TV channel although CNN etc are listed in the TV guide--I confirmed with a service staff, and only Chinese TV is available. With all Google and many other services (eg, iTunes which I use to listen to a radio, or NetFlix) banned, there is very little access to news and entertainment.
I also wished there was more cuisine variety in restaurants-- the so called Westen restaurant serves a seafood buffet with Chinese dishes every night, and the other restaurant is a traditional Chinese restaurant. So for a vegetarian and someone who prefers non-Chinese cuisine, I have to adjust.
I stayed here only one night so can't say much about ancillary services. However, I really liked the breakfast arrangement which was a blend of western and traditional Chinese food (more traditional stuffs though). Food was great!!
Very clean comfortable Bed open space. I will definitely recommend and will rebook this place. Great buffet breakfast very friendly staff. Only downside on the lobby only 5 seater lounge there. I hope they can use massive lounge with few more extra seating lounges.
On the 29th October late at night I arrived to the hotel after a full day of travelling, the greeting by the bell boy was great and the reception staff were so efficient that within 7 minutes I was in a most comfortable room with a large soft bed.
To my surprise there was a bowl of fruit and an excellent selection of teas which were complimentary.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of Western and local delights, if you like spicy food then some of the local fare is for you.
I must admit this was one of the most comfortable and pleasant hotel I have stayed in, the only negative was the selection of TV channels I could only get CCTV News in English.
Apart from that everything else was very positive.
If I get chance to visit Chengdu again this will be my hotel of choice, at less than 500 RMB per night including breakfast excellent value for money.
Arriving about 6:30 pm restaurants closed and the bar offers no cold drink. The refrigerator was full with ice cream but no drink.
No help with the luggage. No help in sight.
The breakfast was poor, no international standard.
The Spa was a desaster. The therapists watched TV during the treatment. Is was not worth the money.
During checkout only one poor person at the desk answering calls and handling the checkout. Thanks good we had time. Still no idea if the bill was deducted correctly from my credit card.
Only positive was the room itself.
I try to avoid this place in the future.
