Lovely hotel right on the sea front sadly I booked late so had a room at the back! It was ok! Room comfortable but very dated and tatty had all I needed though! Didnt eat there, barman was nice and a drink on the terrace was lovely! The receptionist was very kind and changed my room from the basement as I was travelling solo! I would stay again but a sea view room which looked so much better!
Everything was as nice as it could be
Great hotel. Our room was massive with a superb sea view. The evening meal was very nice as was the breakfast. The staff make this place excellent, they looked after us as usual. Great place to stay for Exeter airport night before flight. We’ll be back.
Not sure
Nice large room! Close to see front!
The pictures did not match the actual rooms, very disappointing upon arrival.
One of the rooms had sand all over the bed and it didn't look like the sheets had been changed.
As always, the Imperial offers comfort, courtesy, friendliness and consistency. In our ever-changing world these things really matter.
The sea front location is still just a short walk from the charming town centre. So many small shops, cafes, restaurants to suit all tastes (and pockets) - an absolute delight for the discerning traveller.
Yet another lovely stay at the Imperial Hotel. Such a charming, homely place. Yes it does need a bit of TLC in places but the staff and welcome of this hotel more than makes up for that. Everything was very clean and our room which was one of their superior doubles with sea view which had amazing views of the estuary, sea front and the gardens. It was lovely to see the squirrels scampering around! We stayed dinner, bed and breakfast which we thought was really good value. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was nice and hot, the evening meals were superb - such a choice and all different each day. There is also bar meals available all day if you wish. It's a dog friendly hotel but they have a separate dining room for dogs and owners. The hotel location is really good and there is a bus stop just at the front. The beach, the promenade are just at the front of the hotel and the park at the rear. Town is just across the park - lots of cafes in the square to watch the world go by!
Great staff, good breakfast and evening meals.
Lovely grounds and close to beachfront and town centre
Always good, comfortable and welcoming,
Staff brilliant and a great Hotel for Solo guests.
Food excellent in Restaurant and Bar .🙂
Nice location in good location friendly staff would stay there again there all day menu is not all day
It was very nice. Near the beach and the centre. Nice places to eat around the area. And nice shops. Clean room. Friendly People working there.
Spent three days at this hotel. We had a good view of the seafront from our room. The room was clean &well laid out. Only a short walk to town & the train station. We ate a couple of times at the hotel. Well worth the money for those 3 days.
Have stopped at the imperial 5 times in last 2 and half years and always found it great value for money, not this time dogs rates have gone up from £10 a dog per night to £20 cleaning has been scaled down use to make rooms up every day now every other day rooms weren't even hoovered properly and by looks of sheets they were never changed in the week we were there.
On a plus side the staff are friendly and very helpful.
The place does need a bit of modernisation
Only spent one night here but found the room clean and comfortable. We were lucky to arrive in time for a beautiful sunset and walk along the seafront. (Can highly recommend Heydays for dinner)
We have been going to The Imperial for over 20 years and seen many changes. Its an old building but well kept and comfortable. The grounds are well kept but will never be "beautiful".
It suits us and we hope to be able to return for a few more years.
Nice hotel in great position
Staff friendly, clean, Good Breakfast, shower not working ! Reported fault nothing done over weekend
Carpets very tired, no ramps or amenities for Disabled, Would Not stay here again
We liked the size of the room and the beds were very comfortable. The food was very nice. We liked the outdoor space for our dog. The room was nice and clean.
We didn't like having the shower over the bath as one of us is disabled and had difficulty getting into the bath to have a shower. The toilet was stained. The curtain linings were torn. We were surprised at having to pay car parking fees. We found the front steps were difficult to manage for a disabled person.
Cleanliness ok
Didn't like breakfast buffet and for a hotel that size and grandeur you would expect waitress service and tablecloths.
Bed very uncomfortable and felt like springs coming through mattress.
Grounds excellent upkeep.
