A nice place in a great location.
Pros:

Location and view excellent. Staff helpful, breakfast good, restaurant good, room very nice.

Cons:

WIFI weak, parking limited and inconvenient, no elevator, so the third floor room and 36 stairs was a challenge. The bed could use a better mattress.

Pros:

The Royal Hotel was in an excellent location, walking distance to shops, and restaurants which was convenient. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Cons:

Unfortunately the hotel is very dated and in need of a renovation. The room cost was expensive for what you received. We had two rooms and both had a stale musty smell. The old furniture was part of the problem I believe.

Beware dated and over priced hotel over looking Portree harbour.
Pros:

Room comfortable and good size, staff particularly in breakfast room very friendly. Breakfast included was quite good.

Cons:

I would not recommend staying in Portree at all, too many tourists, not enough eating establishments for the number of tourists.
This hotel promised so much but did not deliver. First impressions are important and our initial contact (mature lady at reception) was not welcoming) The hotel is dated and tired and most definitely over priced. Whilst we had a harbor view room, what could have been a million dollar view was obscured by a building that was in disrepair and had unsightly signage. The hotel itself has some historic features, but also has an unsightly renovation.

A basic old hotel
Pros:

The location was perfect for walking in town and looking at harbour.
Having a restaurant was nice to have.

Cons:

Given its age, the hotel needs some updating. You have to step up into tub to shower and the shower faucet wasn’t great.

Very memorable, the best view in Portree!
Pros:

The staff were so welcoming on arrival. It was so nice to have a room with a cake of soap, tissues and a shower cap and a bath! And a beautiful view.
The location was amazing.
The restaurant provided great
evening meals and breakfast.

Cons:

Parking can be a bit tricky !

Terrible, horrible in all sorts, never visit again
Cons:

Horribly overpriced, rooms were extremely small, no air conditioning whatsoever, the shower had ice cold water, there is no lift and nobody to help with the luggage, you couldn’t even open a window for some ventilation. There wasn’t even an intercom in the room to contact the reception. 2 of the staff were good, but rest were rude and unwelcoming. Never go to this hotel, terrible in all sorts.

Kamer met mooi uitzicht over de bergen en de haven

Cons:

Op onze kamer was het erg warm, verwarming kon niet lager gezet worden. We hadden een nacht bijgeboekt en een switch gemaakt van kamer, daar was de kamer temperatuur wel goed te regelen.

Wir hatten ein sehr sauberes , großes Zimmer , dessen Renovierung noch nicht lange her sein kann

Es war ein leicht müffeliger Geruch im Zimmer , vielleicht noch von der Renovierung ? ...nach reichlich Lüften , war es aber kaum mehr zu riechen
