Sweet, tidy, clean, secure, comfortable place.
Pros:

It's a beautiful little place, with a very friendly and most helpful owner. I really don't understand other reviews that didn't rate it better. We found it to be well-located, at the edge of centre and hence quieter than other places, and with the rooms at the back, so well off the street and away from the traffic noise (important in Antigua!). It was very secure, with the front gate always locked. It was clean and tidy, the shower very hot with good pressure. The owner made a huge effort to help us organise new year's eve plans, gave us her phone number to let us in on our return late at night, and also helped arrange airport transport. She made it all easy.

Beautiful outdoor garden and amazing simple traditional decor and feel in room.. arrived late and stadf welcomed us . Nearby hotel restaurant served excellent .meal. all in all a great experience.

Excelente estadía en Hostal San Nicolas
Pros:

La experiencia en Hostal San Nicolas fué bastante buena, el hotel tiene solo 4 habitaciones lo que lo hace muy tranquilo, la limpieza es impecable y Doña Iris nos atendió como si estuvieramos en casa. Dentro de la tarifa ofrecen parqueo gratis, aunque está a un par de cuadras del hotel pero es un parqueo privado, lo cual en Antigua Guatemala es muy importante si viajas en carro.

Pros:

I'm sure I'm not the only one who titled their post 'beautiful'. What makes this hotel better than a 3 star is that you ARE at home at Hostal San Nicolas. Most of the staff are multilingual, English and Spanish being part of the repertoire; however this shouldn't excuse tourists from the US from try to speak Spanish or another language tied to Guate.
The morning coffee and hummingbirds flying through the magnificent courtyard make you sigh and feel grateful that you're in such a wonderful place. It's truly worth the experience.
The staff made arrangements for a coffee tour and Spanish teacher to come to the hotel to give me a lesson. Amazing!!
