Location and took dog. Former grandeur evident.
Lovely window view of entire bay so peaceful - owls hooting at night and dark skies.
On 2nd floor so bit concern if dog needed to go out for wee in night - exiit/entry but all ok. Sorry if dog barked when heard other guests late st night bit in room by them all so woken up repeatedly!
Close to trails and high street.
One radiator for the whole twin room. Window wasn't double glazed hence being cold overnight.
Loved the look and feel of the hotel itself. Staff were friendly and helpful
Lift was out of order/under repair
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have recommendations for pubs or somewhere to eat nearby. A gent there told me a little about the hotel history and when I asked about the walk to the valley of rocks he talked me through it. The walk was definitely worth it a beautiful coastal walk with amazing views the whole way. Felt like a sleepy town with amazing scenery. Just to the right of the hotel is a steep lane you walk down to begin the walk and the view down to the beach from there is stunning. You can see it from the back of the hotel too. Very scenic place and some great driving roads nearby.
Rooms are dated and very basic. Most cafes I looked up opened at 10am the day I was there which is not bad but something to be aware of. They serve breakfast at the hotel but I never had it so not sure what it consists of.
Excellent communication prior to our arrival. Great recommendations for places to eat that were both dog friendly and Gluten free. Welcoming and accommodating. Very large room and bathroom facilities. Local to shops, restaurants and the beach.
The restaurant wasn't open. So no options for Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Location
No central heating, was giving a portable oil filled radiator, and the insides of our windows were running with condonsation!
Location.
The weather was atrocious and there was no heating on for the time of the year. I had to stuff toilet paper in the sash window to stop the window banging. As there was little to no heating the room was cold and I had to use the extra blanket from the wardrobe which appeared to be covered in white paint. The room was that cold that I left early to go and warm up in my car.
Beautiful building and lovely location
Cold room sheets had stains on water in the shower was no hotter than tepid
Lovely staff very helpful
no bar or food
Wonderful location
Lovely staff.
Could see the beautiful architecture.
Room was cold, especially the bathroom.
The room looked like it needed some love.
Looks a bit tired.
Noisy next door and smelled of weed!
Staff were lovely! Very friendly and helpful, even before arrival all questions answered quickly via the message part on this app. Loved the atmosphere. Beautiful character, insanely beautiful views, room was big and decorated well, very quiet, big TV, bathroom was clean. All in all couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Thank you so much valley of the rocks for a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning in the future 😁
Wasn’t a single thing to dislike about the property
Great value for money, excellent shower professional staff, l will be back.
Nothing to complain about!
Great location !
There was no hot water so we couldn't shower. Very basic facilities bit outdated but great location
One member of staff was very helpful
No hot water and the heating was minimal had to ask for a heater for our room which wasn’t great either
The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was always somebody at the reception.
Although our room smelled clean, the floor we were on, had the smell oif cigarettes The hotel is just lacking a few facilities. It has a big ballroom with sea views but not bring used. No bar or food. I feel like a hotel in this location should be offering these as standard
The price
Beautiful building and main ball room with seating was lovely as you entered the hotel. However it lacked atmosphere as nobody using it and bar not open.
Value for money and great for 1 night. Great location for exploring.
Bedrooms had paper thin walls and decor tired. Windows were rotten and full of condensation.
Needed some TLC and lacked atmosphere. Could be stunning building but needs an injection of cash!
