Pros:

i like the town ilfracombe that’s the only thing that hotel has going for it is where it’s located

Cons:

it was dirty and old the only part of the hotel that looked decent is the lobby area which is clearly where they spent all there money because it’s the only place where the staff are the room was hot and basically falling apart the female manager was rude and mean

Pros:

Had no air in the hotel. With 30 the grease outside inside feel like 40. Windows has almost closed. Was hard to stay inside more then 20min.

We absolutely loved the Swan shaped towels , the rose petals and chocolates that were put out because it was for our wedding night! Thankyou so much!

The price was low - so no high expectations BUT it was worse - mainly because the heat was unbearable, hotter then outside and the windows were blocked from being properly opened (so even in the night, when outside it’s 16 degrees, inside it’s at least 10 degrees hotter.
The old furniture, dirty carpet were bearable,“; if it wouldn’t have been so hot - now it added up.
Also the communication for check-in etc was horrible (and an early check-in fee als included)

Das einzig positive: das Frühstück, für englische Verhältnisse eine recht gut Auswahl, dazu freundliche Mitarbeiter.
Im Gegensatz zum lustlosen Personal beim Einchecken und bei der Verabschiedung. Zimmer ganz oben unterm Dach (Auzug nur bis zum vorletzten Stock, dann eine Treppe zu Fuß) in der hintersten Ecke, brütend warm, der Maler ist in dem Stock wohl unterwegs, es standen Farbeimer rum. Im Zimmer waren auch Malerarbeiten zu sehen, der ausführende Mitarbeiter sollte aber mal über seine Malerehre nachdenken, und vielleicht auch alles mit Farbe anstreichen. Im Schrank stand ein Lüfter zur Verfügung, Steckdosen unterm Schreibtisch oder hinterm Bett. Hotel liegt nahe dem Hafen, was nicht schlecht ist. Der allgemeine Zustand ist arg runtergewirtschaftet, zur Zeit reicht es noch für englische Bustouristen, als nächstes wird das Hotel dann wohl geschlossen, so wie zwei weitere auf der Straße. Von Grand Hotel ist schon lange nichts mehr zu spüren.

Cons:

Seit Jahren mal wieder hatte ich den Eindruck, dass ich als Gast über Booking.com ein Gast zweiter Klasse bin. Das allerletzte, runtergekommste Zimmer oben unter dem Dach, ohne vernünftige Belüftung, restlos aufgeheizt.

Apart from the initial booking issues the Hotel did what it said on the tin

Hotel claimed I had cancelled my booking(!) Showed me the cancellation document.
I originally had a different booking for an extra night but had cancelled a couple of months earlier & had re-booked for 2 nights. Attempted to show my booking on the Booking.com App but they were not interested.
Claimed it was an issue with Booking.com & they wouldn't be be able to assist as the hotel was full.
This was obviously very concerning as we were checking in late in the evening.

However after a bit of panic, the lady on reception managed to find us a room so all worked out in the end :)

Nice hotel for overnight stay
Pros:

Welcoming staff. To be honest we arrived late and checked out quite early. Did not have a chance to use restaurant.

Cons:

Parking. The 10 spaces in car park were full. The spaces outside the hotel were full. The roads by the hotel were full so we had to park overnight and during the day in the harbour. Not very convenient but I think it is a problem with Ilfracombe being quite small
