The property was very clean, tidy and well presented with a homely feel. The location was great - right in the centre of Galle fort area. The staff were super helpful and friendly.
There was nothing not to like although ‘sea view’ was pushing it a bit - maybe if you stood on a chair in exactly the right spot you would be able to see the sea !! However, this did not detract from our stay.
Very nice boutique hotel. The staff was excellent and polite. The breakfast was delicious and customised as per one's choice. Very well located right in the heart of Galle Fort with easy walking access to the restaurants/ bars/ market etc. Extremely satisfied with my stay. Recommend always.
Nothing that I can pin point. Yeah the capacity of the aircon should be increased in the 1st floor road facing big bedroom or alternately 1 more aircon should be added immediately.
We absolutely loved our stay at Taru Villas Rampart Street. We were welcomed as family by the staff who were so helpful and accommodating throughout. We stayed in the sea view room which had a lovely four poster bed. The room was beautifully decorated and the perfect size for travelling with two children. The pool area was stunning and a lovely place to cool down after waking around the fort. We loved the daily breakfasts and enjoyed a special dinner as a family on our last night. The food was outstanding - some of the best of our trip, especially the curries. We will be back!
Personnel toujours extraordinaire
Localisation à 5 mn de la rue principale et à 50 m de la muraille
Excellent petit déjeuner
Tout était parfait
Attention réveil très matinal avec l’école adjacente
We stayed at Taru Villas Rampart Street, a very small boutique property located inside the historic walls of Galle Fort. With only four bedrooms it has a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere.
Our room was on the ground floor opposite the pool. It was pleasant but fairly simple and perhaps a little basic compared with some other boutique hotels we stayed at during our trip.
The highlight of the stay was definitely the food, which was very good. Dinner is served at a large communal table, creating a really enjoyable and sociable experience. We were fortunate to spend our stay with two very interesting couples, which made the evenings particularly memorable, with a relaxed and friendly feel throughout.
The pool area is quite small and can be a little shaded at certain times of the day, but still a pleasant spot to cool off after exploring the fort.
One thing worth noting is that the property sits next to a school, and music starts playing from around 6am. If you are a light sleeper this could be something to be aware of. Also, within the fort walls the heat can feel quite intense at times, as there is limited through-breeze, which is something to bear in mind when staying in this area.
Overall, this is a charming and intimate place to stay in Galle, particularly if you enjoy a more personal atmosphere and the social aspect of communal dining.
It was extremely expensive for what it was so we honestly felt a bit ripped off given it was the most expensive place we stayed in our 9 days in Sri Lanka. Better places closer to the centre were half the price. Also the sea view room we booked had no sea view so this was really disappointing. The pool was directly in front of two rooms so had no privacy. Food service was also really confusing as we thought there was no restaurant but we saw people eating dinner. It wasn’t explained to us that dinner was available. No menus in room. Breakfast was similarly confusing even though the breakfast was very nice in the end. Staff were lovely though and the room was good.
Lovely staff, good location, comfortable.

A beautiful, colonial building set in a great location to explore Galle.
The food was delicious and the staff amazing.
The pool was small and only had 4 sunbeds - a problem if you didn’t get there early enough.
Right in the heart of Galle a fantastic boutique hotel (only 4 rooms) offering a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of the city, though only minutes from all the attractions, bars, restaurants and shops and directly opposite the fortress. Our room was immaculate and very spacious with a large queen-sized four poster bed, huge en-suite shower and a private terrace to enjoy the truly amazing local food - the curries were excellent. The swimming pool is great - nice and warm - a great place to relax and unwind after a day exploring. The staff are very welcoming, polite and ensured our stay was perfect.
Our favourite hotel in Sri Lanka. Small with personal service and an absolutely wonderful retreat within the Galle Fort walls.
Our room had a private balcony overlooking the pool and was beautifully appointed.
Great location with 5 minute walk to many restaurants and bars.
The pool is small but perfect and offers a welcome opportunity to cool down and watch the monkeys the trees around the hotel at the same time.
Friendly helpful staff and great value for money.
A beautiful, quiet boutique hotel in the centre of Galle Fort. Small number of rooms but everywhere is so spacious. Furniture, paintings all fabulous. Would highly recommend this hotel for a stay. Very Friendly and helpful staff.
Taru Villas Rampart Street is a beautiful bungalow within the Galle Fort. It has 4 rooms all beautifully decorated. The service was excellent and loved how they sat all their guests at the main dining table. I was able to meet several lovely guests from across the world. Lovely experience!
The 4 rooms make it very private and the chef was very forthcoming and prepared delicious food. The place is simply stunning and the interior court is so peaceful.
Exceptional service, quality food, peaceful location inside Galle Fort by ramparts. Only four rooms and outstanding boutique experience. Amazing curry meal experience, highly recommend.
An amazing boutique hotel, full of charm and style. Staff were exceptional. We opted for evening meal and blown away by the quality and care given.
We struggle to say anything.
